Picture the scenario. You have just taken receipt of your bright new USB Branded Memory sticks for an event that is due to commence in 2 days. You load the first of the USB Memory Sticks into your PC and to your horror you discover that the data has been loaded incorrectly or there is an error with the original information provided.  Apart from putting a wet towel over you head what options do you have? He’s a list of things that may help:

Try to minimise the risk of this happening in the first place. Ensure your Custom USB supplier provides you with screen grabs of the data for sign off. Ideally ask for a pre-production sample of your Branded USB Memory sticks with the data preload. This way there little risk of any issues in the future.
1.If the data is not protected or has an autorun. Then there are some easy solutions:

• Delete the data from the memory sticks and re-load. Doing these individually is a painful and slow process and is not recommended for batches of over 100 units, unless you have an army of people to throw at this. This process is also prone to quality issues.

• There are several data duplication companies in the UK that can take the Branded Memory sticks and format and reload the data relatively easily and quickly.  They can process up to 3000 memory sticks within a few hours. Job done.
2.The nightmare scenario! If the memory sticks are data-protected or have an autorun it becomes far more complex. No surprise, as by the very nature the Promotional USB Memory Sticks are engineered to stop end users doing exactly what you want to do, namely delete and change the data. The software required to do this will be dependant on the controller that the Branded Memory Stick has been loaded with. The controller is the mini operating system that all USB Memory sticks have. Again there are several options to resolve this.

• Return back to the manufacturer. They have the technology to format and reload the data, but the downside is that it will take time to return to the Far East, get them reloaded and shipped back. You would need to allow up to 2 weeks for this.

• Some USB Providers will have the software to allow the data to be deleted in the UK. If not, ask them to try to obtain from the manufacturer. This would allow them to delete the data. Then the next challenge would be reloading the data. The easiest thing to do would be to load the new data with no protection or an autorun. However, if this is a pre-requisite then there are a few UK Data Duplication companies that have the capabilities of loading the data with copy protection and autorun. Again this will be dependant on the controller that is on the Branded USB Memory Drive.
The moral of this story is to ensure that you minimise the risk of this happening, by having a pre-production sample produced. Otherwise you will be entering a very stressful process and that towel will continue to get wetter!

HP’s 2400 series line of printers contains some of the most model variations on the market today. From the base HP LaserJet 2420 and 2430 models, to duplex and network ready versions, all the way up to the fully loaded HP LaserJet 2420dtn model with extra paper storage, expanded memory, a duplexor, and other features. With a single printer available in a total of seven different model variations, the LaserJet 2400 series is the perfect monochrome laser printer for the picky buyer.

The first in the 2400 series is the HP LaserJet 2420, a black and white personal laser printer with an appealing set of specifications for the home user or small office. It operates at 30 pages per minute in full print quality, making it one of the fastest models of its size on the market.

The HP LaserJet 2420 also comes with 32 MBs of built in RAM which is then upgradeable up to 288 MBs. The 2420d and  2420dn models come standard with 48 MBs and 64 MBs, and are expandable to 304 MBs and 320 MBs respectively. While the LaserJet 2420 is not complete with a built in duplexor, the d and dn versions are.

Built in duplexing allows for automatic double sided printing and, while print speeds will be reduced by a significant margin when operational, it allows for paper costs can be cut virtually in half. The HP LaserJet 2420dn model includes a network card as well for office wide Ethernet usage.

A first page out time of less than ten seconds means that even single page print jobs will come out quickly, and the incredibly fast 400 MHz MIPS 20CK processor should help to keep slowdown to a minimum for large projects, even when the network is in use.

On top of two 100 pin DDR DIMM slots (one open) and MEt memory enhancement technology, two compact flash memory slots are also implemented into the HP LaserJet 2420′s hardware, and, as the model was designed as an office printer, it boasts a very high 75,000 page per month maximum duty cycle. On top of this, HP backs its product with a one year return to HP authorized service center warranty.

Despite the HP LaserJet 2420, and its siblings, being incredibly powerful, its dimensions are admirably small, with a footprint of 16.7 in. by 15.7 in. 10.2 in. (W x D x H) and a weight of 36 pounds. If an optional additional paper tray is incorporated into the hardware, both height and weight will increase, but within reasonable levels.

A 100 sheet multipurpose tray and a 250 sheet standard legal sized paper tray compose the HP LaserJet 2420‘s standard paper handling abilities, and additional 250 sheet and 500 sheet paper trays are available for expansion, though the unit has a maximum paper storage capacity of 850 sheets. With so many customization options available and such eye catching hardware, HP’s 2400 series is hard for those in the market for a powerful, compact monochrome laser printer not to notice.
