When I put in my picture and press SCAN it doesn’t work and it says waiting for PC then it just doesnt scan. Why is my printer doing this? Is something not plugged in or something? Does something have to be opened up on my computer?

There should have been a CD with the computer software suite that needs to be installed on the computer that gives the all-in-one more functionality and compatibility with the computer. When you press SCAN, the HP is looking for this software that provides the appropriate link to the computer so that you can make appropriate settings for the scan and provide a place for the image to be stored. Without it the scanner doesn’t know what to do or where to put the image.
If you did install the software, then definitely check your cable connections to the computer. Can you print to the HP from your computer? If you can, then your connections are probably good, but you are running a basic printer driver and not the full printer suite of software needed for the other stuff. If you did install the suite of software, it may not be running. Try finding the application in your START menu of programs and start it and then try scanning again.
If you don’t have the complete suite of software, check the HP website for your printer and download the complete software suite or order the CD.
Good luck.

The answer below was taken from the HP LaserJet 3050, 3052, 3055, 3390 and 3392 AiO Series Products – Troubleshooting Checklist and as such represents the best possible answer for your specific problem.
Does the all-in-one scan to the computer?
Initiate a scan from the basic desktop software at your computer.
The cable is not connected correctly. Reconnect the cable.
Software is not installed correctly or an error occurred during software installation. Uninstall and then reinstall the all-in-one software. Verify that you are using the correct installation procedure and the correct port setting. If the error persists, turn off the all-in-one and then turn on the all-in-one.
If the error still persists, contact HP Customer Care. .
