My HP 3050 Laserjet all in one printer/scanner/fax/copier wont scan anything to my computer.?

When i press the scan button the little screen says “waiting for computer”, and then eventually just goes back to the date and time. When i press the scan to button it says “not setup on computer.” Does anyone else have these problems? What can i do?

  1. The drivers are probably not installed correctly. If you are using a Vista computer – you will have to go to HP’s site to download the drivers.
Advice: Uninstall any printer software. Go to HP’s site to download the drivers and do a fresh install.

  2. did you try installing the CD that came with it. If you didn’t than try to do it.
If you did than try instead of pressing the scan button on the printer press it on the computer. You can find it by clicking on my computer and it should say the name of your scanner.
If there isn’t one than you have to install the software that came with it.

  3. if it came with an install disk delete the program and re-install it. There may also be a problem with the dos system not recognizing it and cannot load the program. Another thing–do you have a working parent program like print shop pro or adobe Photoshop to link with?
Another solution– is you need to download the drivers to allow your progammed printer to work with your computer.
Go to your computers website and look for the drivers for the printer you are trying to use.
