My HP C3180 All In One is suddenly printing test pages with every print job. How do I turn that off? Thanks?

I’ve had this printer for a while and when I change an ink cartridge out it usually prints a test just one time. This time it’s printing test pages before every job request and wasting a ton of ink. I did not change any settings that I know of. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

  1. Try to reset the printer:

Press the On button to turn off the unit.
Disconnect the power cord from the back of the unit.
Connect the power cord to the back of the unit.
Press the On button to turn on the unit
Press the On button to turn off the unit.
Disconnect the power cord from the back of the unit.
Connect the power cord to the back of the unit.
Press the On button to turn on the unit

If that doesn’t work, I’ve heard that when you only replace one cartridge (and the other is close to being out too) that it will continue to print test pages. So the easiest solution might be to replace that other cartridge too.

  2. If you mean test alignment pages, this will stop that, do the following

Please follow exactly and IN ORDER.

    1. Turn off the printer and wait 10 seconds. Turn it on again

    2. Let the printer print the test page.

    3. After the test page is printed, disconnect the USB cable connecting the printer to your computer. DO NOT turn off the printer while disconnecting the USB cable.

    4. Place the test page on the scanner glass and press the SCAN button on the printer. The ON light will flash as the page is being scanned.

    5. Remove the test page when the ON light is steady.

    6. Finally, turn off the printer and wait another 10 seconds. Then turn it on again. No more printing test pages! Yay!

(You may now reconnect the printer to your computer via the USB cable.)
