My HP Color LaserJet 2600 started printing lines across the page when you print out documents?

The lines started really light and now are printing darker and darker. They are straight lines towards the middle of the page and then the docs are smeared toward the edge.

  1. try a new cartridge. Most of the time dirt and pieces of paper causes these lines.

  2. Try cleaning the tones as it has caught dust and paper particles causing interference while printing

  3. Sounds like either a drum or the transfer belt failing.

If you can rub the toner powder off the page it’s usually fuser.

Try the HP trouble shooting guide for that machine at

Also if you want, email me via yahoo with distance betweenthe marks as they go down the page I can probably advice on what it is from that (and the colour of the marks)
