which is better hp deskjet d1160 or laserjet p1006 for basic printing?

I basically just want to do basic printing about 180 pages a month and maybe some colour photos.Which one would be better in terms of cost?

The HP Deskjet D1160 is your only option if you really need/want to print color. The P1006 is a black laser printer. No color. It would very likely be less expensive to operate black to black compared to the deskjet D1160. So if you can go WITHOUT color – go for the P1006.

But don’t do like my wife did – on our P1006 (which prints super fast btw), when she went to replace the toner cartridge (we’ve never had a laser before) she didn’t pull all the orange plastic type strips off the toner before inserting it. First time it printed after the unprepared toner was in it – the printer pulled some of the orange tape up into the printer and I can’t get it out! So be prepared to read and follow all instructions regardless which printer you go with.
