Sharp Am-900 printer connected to Win XP system via USB cable. We turned off Power Management on the USB Root Hubs. Even went in to the Registry and totally disabled USB power management. Still need to unplug and plug back in the USB cable in order to print. A delay of just a couple of minutes in between print jobs will cause us to have to do the annoying unplug and plug back in. Each time we do this, the print job always print.
USB cable is new. Printer does not have Serial port.

have you tried using a different cable? does the printer have a serial port on the back of it to eliminate the usb all together. if it does, then get a serial cable and hook it up this way. you’ll have to then configure the printer port to comm1 for the printer settings. you can also go into the system properties and select device manager and remove the usb items and have all the drivers reinstalled by XP to maybe determine if it was a usb drive situation..

you can always tell the quality of USB cables by looking at the thickness of the cable. thicker usb cables have higher quality ‘.,
