usb printer connecting to a parallel port print server?

I have a newer printer that’s only got a usb connector. My slightly older wireless router has a print server and a parallel port. Ideally I’d like to have the printer available to any computer connecting to the network without having to use print sharing via a one computer that is always on.

I don’t think this is possible though since I can’t find a connector that goes from a male usb to a parallel port. They seem to go the other way around.

  1. No such converter available, however DLink make a nice little wireless/cat5 print server that works with USB.

Fraid it’s either that or share it off a PC.

  2. I don’t think you can convert LPT port to USB,
What you can do is : if your printer is new it must have a nic card, connect it to your router via cat5 cable and it will take an IP address (this is your printer IP address) open the DHCP in your PC or Mac and add the printer ,(chose adding Printer via Network not any port) it will show up in your list of printer to pick.
