In example, What if I want to print a microsoft excel document over remote access printing but the other computer doesn’t have microsoft excel. Is there inexpensive software I can install that will allow me to do so? Thanks.

Shouldn’t make a difference. The file you are sending to the printer contains it’s own ability to print. And it is printing from your pc, actually. The other pc is just a link to the printer.

If your printing over a network it doesn’t matter what the other computer has software wise. All that matters is that you have Excel on the computer your printing from.
