USB Flash Drives are one of the hottest items to give away whether you own a large company or a small mom and pop business. USB Flash Drives are also becoming more and more popular to musicians, filmmakers, photographers, and other self-employed individuals because it’s functional and very fun to customize.

I have a photographer friend who puts his portfolio in a customized USB Flash Drive. He made a slideshow of his pictures with a good song on the background to complement his photographs. Whenever he finds the need to promote his works (conference, art shows,etc), he simply puts his slideshow portfolio in customized USB Flash Drives. I think it more effective that way than actually printing the photographs. Besides, it’s more eco-friendly compared to printing the pictures because the USB Flash Drives can be used by the recipients afterward.

But you should also know that using USB Flash Drives could be unappealing if you just use regular USB flash drives that we see everywhere. You should never give out your portfolio in those because it spells B-O-R-I-N-G (and lazy, and unappealing, and…)! It would be like sending out your promotional CD using a plain jewel case. You should customize your USB to WOW people or else it would be a waste of money.

There are plenty of ways to customize USB Flash Drives. Here are some of them:

Print your Name & Logo. This is the most basic way to customize USB Flash Drives. Simply have your logo & company name printed on the standard USB Flash Drive. You can also put your company’s tagline or website at the back to maximize promotion.

Chain. Turn regular USB Flash Drives into cool-looking key chains or necklaces! Remember, you can also customize the shape of the actual USB Flash Drive so that it would not just look like a stick. You can have any design you want- small figurines, lighters, whatever you like! You then make sure it has a small hoop where you can insert the chain.

Wrist Band. If you’re promoting a sport-related product, then you might want to give away (or even sell!) USB Wrist Bands. They should look like regular wrist bands with the USB Flash Drive serving as the lock. Just make sure you make a really cool design so they would always be wearing it wherever they go. Instant promotion for you!

2-in-1 office supply. If your clients have offices which I assume they do, then you might want to give them a cool-looking office supply that also has a flash drive! Let me explain. You have a lot of ways to get creative with USB Flash Drives because they’re so small and you can place it to anything that can hold a small chip. You can pair the USB Flash Drives to ball point pens, small desk figurines, post-its, etc. This is advantageous for you since they will always be reminded of your company in their workstation PLUS many people come and go inside their offices.

There are plenty of ways to customize USB Flash Drives so please don’t just give out plain-looking ones especially if you are a company. You are trying to create a brand/image so maximize your promotion by showing what kind of company you are thru the USB Flash Drives that you give out. Get creative!
