Obscurity is the worst enemy of marketing effort. If no one knows you exist you won’t be able to sell to them. Thus an important part of marketing involves making people aware of your existence. Thus you need to get your brand in your prospects mind and keep it there which is where things like branded USB drive will come in handy. It is advisable to get your brand attached to something that people find useful and use daily.

With progress of technology culture has diverted a lot. Different people have started taking interest in different things. Thus brute force marketing is less effective and does not work these days. You have to be much more creative and sneaky in order to get your message out there.

A branded USB drive is a great way to do this. Basically you need to order a batch of these drives and print your logo on it. Along with printing your logo on the USB drive, you can load data into the memory sticks which serves as a cost-effective way to give your customer access to sales, pricing and promotion of the item. After all the most expensive part of the USB drive is the memory space housed inside it so making use of it for promotion will be a good idea. Files that are preloaded onto a USB drive before distribution include things like PDF version of sales brochure or price list and other Microsoft office files. This files can be locked onto the memory sticks so that they can be copied or viewed but cannot be deleted. They can also be loaded with this protection so that the receiver can delete them after viewing them and use the whole memory space. Locking item will force the receiver to view the things but as they cannot use the memory space it will negate the benefit of the user. One of the simplest and effective things to load onto the branded USB drive is a link to your website. This won’t take much space but the link will take the customer to the website of the company.

Innovative designs of USB flash drive are flooding the market these days. An unusually weird drive attracts everyone’s attention. Thus printing your company’s name on this kind of weird and innovative designer USB drive is a great way to promote your brand name. Such an unusually designed USB drive is a light bulb USB drive. The logo or graphics illuminates when plugged in. It is provided with a large key ring to be easily carried with. It is available with capacity ranging from 512 MB to 8 GB. The price of 1 GB light bulb USB drive is . USB specification with 1.0, 1.1, 1.2 and 2.0 are available. At least 10 years of retention with 1000,000 times storage is warranted. No driver is required for Mac, Windows 2000, XP and Vista.

Do not ignore the opportunities to load data into your branded USB drive. When you are paying for the USB drives so make the best use of it to promote your brand.

What are Universities doing with tens of thousands of Branded USB Memory Sticks

They get it. Universities understand that USB Memory sticks are an ideal vehicle to communicate with prospective students at Freshers’ Fairs and to provide them a tangible reminder of the University and all it has to offer.

Whilst this is not the only reason UK Universities have ordered thousands and thousands of USB Memory sticks it is one of the prime motivators.

Lets face it when you go to a Freshers’ Fair you’ll typically come away laden down with a small forests worth of information, much of it printed on high quality paper at great expense to the University and to the environment. Are these necessary, will they all be read or will most end up in the bin (hopefully a re-cycling bin)

A USB Memory stick won’t necessarily get rid of all the brochures, forms, flyers and other documentation but it has the potential to reduce significantly the amount of printed material and waste.

Additionally by pre-loading the USB Memory stick with slide shows, music, arts performances, videos, embedded links to web sites etc you can offer so much more and because its not all being printed it can be offered to a wider audience for less cost (that’s even allowing for the costs of the USB Memory stick itself).

The University does not have to worry about loading the data onto the Memory Stick either. Typically data is loaded onto the memory stick at the point of manufacture (because its cheaper) but, if, as is often the case with Freshers’ Fairs, the information is not ready until the last minute the data can be bulk loaded in the UK using the services of UK based “data loading” specialists.

Combine these benefits with the ability to print the University logo, crest. Motto and other key messages on the USB Memory sticks and you can see why Universities are increasingly embracing USB Memory Sticks.

Of course once the prospective student has reviewed the information loaded onto the USB stick the data can be erased (assuming the University has not “protected the data from deletion”). The student can then use the memory stick to save their coursework onto.

Branded USB Memory Sticks loaded with data are not only a great way for a University to promote itself but unlike its paper counterparts a USB Memory stick provides value way beyond the Freshers’ Fair.

Don’t Make A Drama Out Of A Branded USB Crisis

Your conference is in 2 days, your long awaited Branded USB Memory sticks that will be the centre piece of your offering have just arrived and you eagerly open the box with your boss looking over you shoulder…… then you get that sinking feeling! There’s a problem with the Branded Memory Sticks and the sands of time have run out. What can you do?

Apart from picking up your P45, there may be something that can be done  to rescue the situation.

Firstly a problem shared is a problem halved! Contact the UK Branded USB provider assuming you have not purchased direct from the Far East. A reputable company will give you more than excuses and apologies, they should help to dig you out of this hole. If you have purchased direct then contact the factory and wait for the normal  response of ‘return the goods and we shall replace’. This typically takes 3 – 4 weeks and your deadline has already passed!

So what goes wrong and how can you correct it?

Delays in customs. If you need the goods urgently, the Far East or UK customs have an unwitting way of selecting your order for inspection. Not much that can be done other than to provide your courier with a letter or authentication prior to despatch to minimise the risk. Courier delays. If the Branded USB Memory Sticks have been delayed in transit and are now stuck at a UPS / FedEx / TNT international hub, you may be able to save some time. Ask them to hold them at their hub rather than sending on a next day delivery and arrange for a point to point courier to pick them up and deliver direct to your event or client. Beware it will have all the commercial invoices on the box so if you want these to remain undisclosed you’ll need to ask the courier to remove. Problems with the Branded USB print. If the brand police are not happy, but end users will not really notice then commercially it may be worth using the USB Branded Memory sticks and then kicking the provider’s shins very hard and asking for a part refund. However, if there is something materially wrong, then ask a UK printer if they can remove the logo using a special solution and then reprint. Can be costly but worth a shot. Alternative produce some dome stickers with your logo printed on and place on top of the offending print. The Promotional USB Memory sticks do not work when you plug them in. You will need to test on various operating platforms and not behind a corporate firewall as this may restrict access. If there is still a problem then format all the disks and pray! Problems with the dataload on the Custom USB Memory Sticks. If data has been loaded on to the USB Drives and it is not protected or has an autorun function then simply format the Branded USBs and reload the data. For quantities of less than 100 units, grab a very long coffee and spend a few hours doing this thankless task. If time does not permit, or if the quantity is higher then contact a UK data duplication house who can do this for you at a price.

If the disks are protected then panic! The only chance you have is to ask the supplier for software that will allow you to reprogramme. This is both a technically difficult and a time consuming process.

If none of the above works then search for a UK supplier that holds blank USB Memory sticks and who can print within the timeframe required. Swiftly followed by a phone call to your corporate lawyer to get your money back from the cowboys that produced the original batch.

Finally always insist on a pre-production working sample, that way you will know exactly what you are going to receive and allows you to sleep easier…well just a little!

Branded USB Memory Sticks Not To Be Confused With Memory Sticks

by ▌ÇP▐

A Memory Stick is a removable flash memory card format that was developed and launched by Sony in late 1998. Memory Sticks are a proprietary design of Sony’s and are commonly used as a storage medium in Sony digital cameras, MP3 and MP4 players, hand-held consoles and video cameras.

Since their launch various “flavours” of the Memory Stick have been introduced including the Memory Stick PRO, Memory Stick Duo, the Micro and Pro-HD. These variants embrace higher speed formats and smaller form factors but of late it is a format that has struggled to keep up with the demand and usage of SD cards in the market. Sony have now introduced their own version of the SD card which to some has signalled start of the end of the Memory Stick.

Memory Sticks could theoretically have been used by the promotions industry as a portable storage medium but “memory cards” have just not caught on like USB Memory Sticks.  The primary reason is that these cards are typically used “inside a device” and therefore any branding is not on display, equally, the shape and size of a Memory Stick does not lend itself to being carried easily.

USB Memory sticks, also referred to, as USB Flash Drives, USB Thumb Drives and USB Pen Drives have become the dominant medium for portable storage. Not only are they incredibly easy to use but also they are lightweight, portable, easy to attach to a key ring or lanyard and these days they are available in a wide range of memory sizes up to a whopping 64GB! They also come in a wide range of styles, colours and shapes, which can all, be over printed, engraved or embossed with a logo.

If you’ve got data to save, store and transport then for the majority of people a USB memory stick is the preferred option. It’s partly for this reason that they are now commonly used by companies as a promotional product or a way of distributing data and information (e.g. at a seminar, conference or press event).

A USB Memory Stick rather than a Memory Stick, printed up with a company logo is a popular and sought after item with a high perceived value. Users of USB memory sticks not only value them but they use them on a regular basis and as such any brand printed on them gets excellent exposure and excellent and positive brand association.

By pre-loading sales brochures, price lists, technical data sheets, media files and web links onto the memory sticks before they are distributed companies can offset the cost of buying the branded memory sticks against the print savings they make.

So when considering Memory Sticks as a promotional tool make sure it’s a promotional USB Memory Sticks you seek quotes on.

Branded USB Battery Flash Drives

If you’re looking for something a little different, something that will make your brand stand out from the crowd and something that will deliver a bit of a “wow” factor then you might want to think about USB flash drives in the shape of a battery.

Of course these battery shaped flash drives are ideal for any battery manufacturer like Duracell or Energizer but they are also ideal for any company that has products powered by batteries or is looking to “power into new markets”. There are lots of creative ways in which USB battery flash drives could be used and they certainly make a powerful impact!

The battery USB drives are slightly bigger than a standard AA battery (they need to be to accommodate the USB connector), they are made of metal and they have screw cap so they’re a pretty rugged and tough flash drive. Although they have an interesting shape they work just like any standard USB flash drive and they’re available in memory sizes from 64MB all the way up to 16GB!

Despite their shape four colour printing is available of these novel USB sticks and they can be supplied with a variety of different keyring attachments and/or lanyards.

If you do buy branded USB battery shaped memory sticks or in fact any USB stick that you’re going to use for promotional purposes then you need to think about whether you’re going to pre-load the sticks with data before you hand them out. Over the last year there has been a significant increase in the number of companies pre-loading their USB flash drives before they distribute them.

The print, transportation and storage costs of printed material like sales brochures, press releases and product sheets can all be saved by loading electronic versions of them onto the flash drives. In some cases it’s relatively easy to build a business case to fund the purchase of the USB drives from these savings alone. If you build in the additional promotional value that they deliver its no surprise that more and more companies are now buying USB flash drives.

Engage with Your customers with Branded Promotional USB Sticks

In what way do you engage your customers? Unless you own a country store in a little town then interacting with your customers in a personal and meaningful way, is not always an easy task.

Companies are increasingly turning to the Web and other technical devices to reach their customer bases. Of course your company has a website, and makes use of social media, posts articles and blogs and sends out a newsletter. So why not leverage your media campaign with Promotional USB Sticks, It’s a marketer’s dream. Merchandise giveaways are one of the most individual and effective of all marketing activities. Engage and interact with your target audience with a unique personal giveaway. Preload your company logo and your promotional message on a custom branded USB stick. Add your logo via printing or engraving. There is a good choice of drive capacities, to choose from, as well as a selection of styles, shapes and colours, such as: the keychain pendant, Pen Drives, Flash Memory Sticks, Promotional Sports drives, and more, are all available with your custom printed logo.

Benefits of Using Branded Merchandise;

Branded merchandise is preferable over advertising with radio, TV, or printed material. The use of branded gifts allows you to aim very specifically, and engage your target audience. This tight targeting strategy will save money because your marketing funds will be used in the area that will most likely give you a return on your investment.

Permanence. Other forms of media, such as TV, radio and printed media are “here today, and gone tomorrow,” but branded gift merchandise has a much longer shelf-life. If you provide branded promotional merchandise, that your target audience will use every day, they will have a continuous reminder of your brand and your message.

Subliminal appeal. Think about appealing to more senses with your promotional merchandise and capture your audience. Physical contact with your carefully chosen promotional merchandise has much more impact than a transitory medium such as TV, radio or print. Whether they are actually aware of it or not, your targeted audience will be subliminally digesting this information, so that when they have a need for your products or services, your company will be an immediate thought and hopefully win you the business.

Maintain customer loyalty. The giving of promotional gifts to your existing clients gives you the opportunity for interaction with your customers, which paves the way for further promotion of your company and keeps your business in the minds of your target audience. Branded gifts are also a reward for customer loyalty.

Increase your client base. Giving well-chosen branded merchandise to prospective customers can create in them a desire to buy from you rather than your competitors.

USB Flash Drives are the perfect solution. These devices are small and portable. They can be imprinted or engraved with your logo and message onto individual drives. It is a great marketing strategy because you will have the ability to include a video, pictures, and even music!

USB memory drives are favourites as a promotional gift, so make the transition from other forms of advertisement to USB flash drives, and get your name in front of your target market or audience.

Packaging Options For Branded USB Flash Drives

print usb
by Daniele Muscetta

There are two schools of thought on whether you should put your printed USB flash drives in a gift box or not with the pro-box lobby being keen to ensure that the USB drives not only look the part but have a real impact when handed out. There’s no escaping the fact that branded USB flash drives look better boxed up, they look more like a “proper gift” and the when handed out the they create more of an impact.

Whilst most branded USB flash drives are supplied as a minimum in individual “poly” bags these are designed to protect them from bumps and scathes in transit rather than adding anything to the overall aesthetic. If you are simply going to remove the flash drives from these bags and incorporate them into your own presentation pack then any packing over and above the “poly” bags would be a waste.

But, if you are for example handing out the branded USB flash drives to delegates or speakers at a conference, or to prospective customers or high net worth clients then gift boxes or presentation tins really are a good idea. Gift boxes can also accommodate any lanyards, key rings or other marketing material that might be appropriate. Giving these items away in a single gift box simply looks better and is less clumsy than handing them out separately.

You don’t have to spend a fortune on gift boxes either. In some cases suppliers of branded USB sticks will offer a plain white gift box free of charge. Other options include plastic “snap” boxes with magnetic clasps and metal tins (with our without a cut-away window). If you really want to go the extra mile you can also get the boxes or tins printed to compliment your USB sticks and your advertising campaign or event.

The anti-box lobby typically cite the waste associated with the supply of boxes and tins, which will, in most cases, just end up in the bin. It’s not just the waste of the boxes and tins but the additional air miles the additional energy that is used in manufacturing them and transporting them around the world – 99% of all gift boxes supplied to house branded USB flash drives are imported from China. So, if you have a company that is in any way involved in environmental or green issues or is sympathetic to them then it might be best to avoid what some might consider as “unnecessary packaging”.

Branded USB Memory Sticks ? Why Are So Many Being Given Away

It’s no exaggeration to say that millions and millions of Branded USB Memory Sticks are given away free every year and the trend is accelerating. But why, what makes a branded USB memory stick such a great item and what are they most commonly being used for?

Branded USB Memory Sticks are incredibly popular with everyone because:

They are incredibly handy gadgets that make storing and transporting large amounts of data very easy. They come in a range of designs and styles that look great when printed up with a logo or brand. Matching the body of many of the USB Memory Sticks to a primary colour from the printed brand is relatively easy to do and inexpensive and helps to lift the overall “look and feel” of the memory stick. People like to receive branded USB memory sticks because of their perceived value and because of their intrinsic usefulness. They are small and light so transportation, storage and distribution is never an issue. They have global appeal. Unlike some promotional products that only work in certain markets and cultures USB memory sticks have a universal appeal. They are easy to use and data (files, music, videos, presentations, etc.) can be stored onto the memory stick before they are distribution. Prices have fallen over the last few years making them a cost effective marketing and promotional tool.

What are the most common uses for Branded USB Memory Sticks?

Not surprisingly given their popularity the usage of memory sticks continues to grow and new and innovative uses for them are being found all the time. Some of the more common uses include:

Giveaways at trade shows, exhibitions and conferences – branded USB memory sticks are an ideal way to get your brand distributed and your sales brochures brought to life. Pre-loading links to your website, including sales videos and presentations together with product sheets and special offers. Seminars where they are typically pre-loaded with speakers notes, presentations and details of forthcoming seminars and events that the audience might be interested in. Press Launches – handing out a branded or even a custom shaped USB Memory stick at a press launch is a great way to engage with the invited journalists. Custom USB memory sticks manufactured in a shape to represent the event are becoming increasingly popular because of the “wow” factor and talking point they create. Product Launches – USB memory sticks printed with the logo or design of your product (or even manufactured in the shape of your product) and pre-loaded with product information, preview videos, pricing etc are popular. More and more companies are now using memory sticks are a core part of their overall sales and marketing mix and launch plans. University Fresher Fairs – every student loves something for nothing and if it can’t be beer then a USB memory stick is a good substitute particularly if you can pre-load it with lots of useful information for them on the university, life as a student, student offers, housing information, student union details etc. Schools – Many schools now mandate the use memory sticks and are either making them available to students free of charge or supplying them with the school crest/logo on at a subsidised rate.

Whilst not an exhaustive list it does illustrate the range of uses the once humble USB memory stick is now being put to.

Branded USB Memory Sticks The Preferred Choice Of Photographers

One of the biggest changes to the photography industry over the last few years has been the move away from film to digital photography. A market that was up until a few years ago almost exclusively film based is now almost exclusively digital based.

Most professional photographers and “snappers” alike will today use digital cameras or mobile phones to take their images and once taken the images are easy to store, enhance, share and it’s easy to produce print from them. For many the real joy of and benefit of digital photography is the ability to share their photo’s with family and friends by uploading them onto sites like Flickr and Facebook.

The immediacy of digital photography and the ability to take literally thousands of images for barely any incremental cost has turned us all into a nation of “snappers” and “posters” but when it comes to photo’s of that “special event”, family portrait or portfolio photo’s then we still, in the main, turn to Professional Photographers. The ability to take “fun” and personal “snapshots” is within the grasp of all of us but photography, good photography is still an art and a profession that by definition is best left to the professionals.

Growing number of Professional photographers now not only supply their clients with hard copy prints of their photographs but they also supply them with a whole collection or portfolio of shots on some form of digital medium. For the last couple of years the digital medium of choice has been a CD or DVD because these carry large amounts of data (photo’s) and they do so relatively cheaply. The downside of CD’s and DVD’s is that they are not really considered a great “keepsake” and they do little to promote the Photographer’s business or create any form of recall –in short they do the job but they are just not great adverts for the Photographer’s business.

With the continued fall in the price of USB memory sticks allied to their proven use as a promotional product more and more Professional Photographers are now starting to use them to hand out to their client. The client’s photographs are pre-loaded on the USB memory stick and the USB memory stick is branded (printed) to carry the logo, contact details and typically the web address of the photographer.

Branded USB memory sticks unlike CD’s or DVD’s have great perceived value, they enhance the service offering from the photographer and they more importantly work as an on-going sales “billboard” which in turn should generate more business for the photographer.

Just as we’ve seen a significant shift in way in which we all take photographs its likely that we’re on the cusp of a change in the way in which professional photographers supply their images to their clients
