Xerox Works with Print Audit to Help Customers Cut Document Costs

Calgary, Alberta (PRWEB) February 14, 2007

Print Audit, the leading print management software developer, announced today that Xerox Corporation has chosen Print Audit to help its sales agents provide more value for their customers by helping them find ways to reduce document costs.

Xerox agencies will be able to utilize Print Audit’s assessment and print analysis tools to aid each step of their sales cycle. Print Audit’s Rapid Assessment Key, an easy to use USB device, allows channel partners to provide their clients with an instant snapshot of their print environment. A rapid assessment will typically pave the way for a thorough, up to 60 day, assessment with Print Audit’s Assessor tool. The Assessor is designed to track one-hundred percent of the printing at a client’s site and reveals optimal equipment opportunities by uncovering printing inefficiencies and bottlenecks.

“Xerox selling partners need to offer customers more than just technology,” said D. Cameron Hyde, President, Xerox North American Partners Group. “Print Audit will help Xerox agents become true document specialists, finding ways to add value, cut costs and increase productivity.”

Xerox agents can also offer their clients increased control over their print environment with Print Audit’s flagship software, Print Audit 5. Print Audit 5′s unique client-based architecture helps organizations analyze all of their printing, control printer usage and accurately bill their clients or users for printing and plotting costs.

In support of the partnership, Print Audit will be attending Xerox’s 2007 North American Partners Meeting in Orlando, Florida from February 11th – 14th, 2007. John MacInnes, President and CEO of Print Audit, will conduct comprehensive learning sessions with Xerox agents — focusing on how Print Audit’s tools can help them advance their business opportunities.

“We are thrilled to announce this agreement with Xerox Corporation as this is a partnership that we have coveted for several years,” said John MacInnes, President and CEO of Print Audit. “Being an integral part of Xerox’ sales strategy for 2007 is an exciting step that will have a tremendous impact on both companies.”

Network Management Software Offers a Solution to the Dirty Little Secret in Printing Costs

Clearwater, FL (PRWEB) December 18, 2006

Most printer manufacturers don’t make much from the sale of printers, according to industry observers. Most essentially recoup their production costs on the sale of each printer. They make the bulk of their profit selling ink, toner, and paper to businesses, schools, and offices, which typically lack the ability to track and control their printing costs. The more ink, toner, and paper that printer manufacturers sell, the greater their profits. So can you expect the printer management software bundled with branded printers to control network printing as effectively as a third-party network management software solution?

The answer is no. Printer manufacturers often include some printer management software with their printers. But these controls are typically limited to their brand or an individual machine, as they aren’t true network management software solutions. This limits their effectiveness in most business, school, and office environments, which tend to use multiple printer brands across their networks.

And consider this: even as computer prices have steadily dropped, the cost of one high-tech necessity has remained stubbornly high. Printer and toner cartridges are so costly that one printer giant has long made more than two-thirds of its profit from selling them. Because printer manufacturers essentially sell inkjet and low-end laser printers as loss-leaders to generate a high-margin revenue stream from consumable ink, toner and paper, relying on them to control printing costs is like putting the fox in charge of guarding the henhouse.

A company called Software Shelf is trying to change all that with a third-party network management software solution. Software Shelf makes a product called “Print Manager Plus”. It’s a simple, inexpensive way to control network printing. It not only allows administrators to restrict printer users by dollar amount, job size, file type, or other specifiers, but also gives them an easy, centralized way to view essentially everything printed on the network, see how much it costs, who’s doing it, which printers are used, and so on.

Unlike printer software that works on a single machine or just with a specific brand, Print Manager Plus can track, manage, control, and account for the cost of printing on all printer brands across the network, and is a true network management software solution. As the only purely native Windows printer control software, it offers greater stability than non-native Windows options. Because it’s licensed by print server, each license covers unlimited printers, users, and workstations across the network.

Print Manager Plus is used by thousands of corporations, small businesses, and organizations worldwide to control their printing costs, including Hyatt Hotel, Commerzbank, Capital Blue Cross, and Aventis Pharma Canada. As network management software, it is the only third-party software included in Microsoft’s Learning Network Manager, and was granted Microsoft’s “Solution of the Month” for 14 straight months on the company’s Public Sector Website.

Before selecting any Colour Multifunction Printer, you should ask yourself a number of questions.

Are there any alternatives? – Avoid printing, make maximum use of electronic workflows Do I need all the available features? – Install mfp devices or printers with a duplex function Can I achieve the same results with a Mono Multifunction Printer? – Alternatively you should make employees aware of colour costs and avoid where possible Which manufacturer offers the best quality product? – No one ever lost their job specifying HP Does the manufacturer offer trade in terms? – Always worth asking the question Can I get a demonstration? – Less likely with a box shifter Are there any special offers? – Always ask Is there a Renew option? – Available only from HP Renew Partners The Hewlett-Packard range of Colour multifunction printers meet the office requirements from small one-man businesses through to workgroups within multinationals.

The HP CM1312 mfp is the entry level multifunction laserjet printer delivering high quality documents at speeds upto 12 ppm black and 8 ppm colour. The HP CM2320nf mfp is a quality multifunction laserjet printer that comes network ready for printing and copying at speeds of 20 ppm in both mono and colour and would be a good choice for a small office with a light workload. In addition to the 250-sheet main input tray and 50-sheet multipurpose tray, a 550-sheet extra tray is available. Helpful on-screen prompts explain the manual process for double-sided printing, but for automatic duplex printing the HP CM2320fxi mfp is available. Recommended up to 2500 pages per month. Trade-in, credit details and leasing packages are available on most products above £1000.

HP Colour Laserjet CM6040 MFP is a replacement for the 9500 series and is designed for large workgroups or even small departmental use.
