01 Communique Adds Support for Remote Viewing and Control of a PC’s Desktop from Pocket PC Devices

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) October 16, 2005

01 Communique Laboratory Inc. (TSX: ONE – http://www.01com.com) announced a new release of its remote access service, I’m InTouch. The updated Version 5.0 adds further remote access flexibility and incorporates new features to enhance the user experience. Windows Mobile based Pocket PCs with an Internet connection can now be used by mobile professionals and IT managers to take full desktop control of their distant PC. Real-time control provides users with secure access to all of the information and tools they need to remain productive, regardless of where they may be.

Pocket PC users securely login to their PC running the I’m InTouch service using an Internet browser, and can use their proprietary business applications, check and send email and access their networks. 128 bit end-to-end encryption is used within I’m InTouch to ensure the protection of all data. Users have the ability to manage the presentation of their PC’s desktop on their Pocket PC with features such as horizontal or landscape viewing modes and scaling preferences to view a portion or all of the desktop. No additional software is required to be configured on the Pocket PC. This level of access eliminates the traditional shortcomings of users having to synchronize data between their PC and Pocket PC and the inevitable situation of a file that is suddenly needed being out of reach, back at the office. “With the continued roll-out of broadband wireless networks and higher data transfer speeds becoming available around the world, full remote control and navigation of a users desktop from devices such as Pocket PCs is becoming increasingly practical,” says Brian Howden, Vice President of marketing.

Another feature introduced in I’m InTouch Version 5.0 is remote printing. Remote printing gives a user the ability to print any document on their remote computer to their local printer. This functionality recognizes that some users may not have the business application they are remotely working on installed on their local PC but still wish to be able to print a local hardcopy for review. A practical illustration is someone remotely accessing and working on a business accounting application from the convenience of his or her home computer and wishing to print a report to their home printer. I’m InTouch’s remote print function redirects the print job request given to the business PC to the users local home printer for print processing.

“Version 5.0 represents the natural progression of making our remote access service allow users to feel as if they were sitting at their desktop, regardless of where they are or what device they are using to login. The new features enhance the robustness and flexibility of our service offering,” said Andrew Cheung, President and CEO of 01 Communique. “We continue our commitment to offer a service that is easy to use, secure, reliable and affordable and that gives our users essential business tools to manage their business effectively in this increasingly mobile world. More innovative and powerful features are in the pipeline”.

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (PRWEB) September 18, 2007

”The C8800 Series is a pivotal game-changer in the printing marketplace,” said Mike Garofola, Senior Marketing Manager, Color Printers and MFPs, Oki Data Americas. “Before the C8800, the decision for a business owner to invest in a tabloid color printer required a $ 3,000-plus investment in a device that needed its own cubicle. We have eliminated the price and size barriers with the C8800 Series, giving businesses of all sizes access to powerful performance and media versatility straight from their desktop.”

With a footprint up to 38% smaller than comparable tabloid printers(2), the C8800 will dramatically reduce the cost, complexity and space requirements for wide-format printing. The key standard features of the C8800 Series include:

Size/Value

— Smallest, most compact footprint of wide-format printers in its class(3), delivering bigger and more powerful printed documents on-demand from users’ desktops.

— A groundbreaking price point for wide-format printers with a low cost-per-page, empowering businesses to enhance their printing capabilities

Media Flexibility

— Greater media control and flexibility, including color tabloid (11″ x 17″) and unique banner (11″ x 47.25″) capability, allowing users to produce a variety of media in house, including marketing collateral and specialized output such as signage, charts, architectural renderings or engineering design documents.

Performance

— Fast print speeds of 26 ppm in color and 32 ppm(4) in black-and-white that improve office productivity and optimize output performance.

— HD Color technology, combining microfine toner and multilevel LED heads and 1200 x 600 dpi resolution, ensuring photo-like quality on everyday office paper, and delivering consistent quality and reliability in printed documents.

Digital Labs, LLC Releases WiSSH 2.0, a Windows Remote Desktop over SSH tool

(PRWEB) July 11, 2005

WiSSH Remote Access Technology provides easy, secure, controlled remote access to systems inside your network perimeter. WiSSH version 2.0 adds enhanced capabilities to make the remote access experience even better for both users and network administrators.

WiSSH 2.0 is a major update that provides many more options for network administrators to manage remote users. The use of improved policies in the Corporate Edition help simplify and control how users are able to access internal network resources from anywhere on the Internet. Other improvements on the Standard Edition include a private key generator and improved session logging.

WiSSH couples Microsoft’s Remote Desktop Protocol with the trusted open source SSH protocol in a lightweight client will give you or your customers a highly reliable, scalable solution to your remote access needs. WiSSH supports remote printing, drive access, sound and copy/paste if supported by the remote system. Client side logs are able to greatly assist support staff when troubleshooting connections. Easy rollout options can allow administrators to deploy the software preinstalled with keys and connection defaults.

WiSSH can easily work with your existing SSH server or you can utilize a dedicated system various operating systems and SSH Daemon server types.

WiSSH allows access through the Gateway SSH server to:

•Windows 2000 Terminal Servers

•Windows 2003 Terminal Servers

•Windows NT Terminal Server Edition

•Windows XP with Remote Desktop enabled

•Windows 2000/2003 Servers with Remote Administration enabled.

Users will see the desktop they have come to expect, with the same access and roles they have while at the office. No learning how to map drives from their home computer, issues with domain logins and rights, hosts and lmhost files, installing software that breaks their home network, incompatible NAT routers, or strange web interfaces that won’t allow them the same features that they are used to.

WiSSH is the perfect solution for when you have limited exposed Internet addresses but need to connect to many internal hosts. If you need to directly connect to many different servers or workstations WiSSH only needs a single exposed SSH Gateway Server’s IP address. This allows a connection to every host internal to your network, thus protecting your infrastructure.

WiSSH Corporate Edition provides a rollout script that can be customized so that an end user should only have to install the software, click the icon, enter a password, and they are connected. Global policies allow network administrators to lock down client options. Individual policies can override or enhance the global policies. Logging features can let network administrators know who is connecting to which remote servers to greatly enhance system auditing.

HP LaserJet P1505n ? High Speed Desktop Network Printer

laserjet printing
by owenkohai

As the network version of one of the most interesting desktop printers available today, the HP LaserJet P1505, the HP LaserJet P1505n adds Ethernet compatibility to an already impressive device. Designed with speed in mind, and speed alone, the P1505 competes for the top spot among its peers for print speed, and has one of the fastest first page out times of any device on the market of any kind, including industrial grade copy machines and MFCs.

With a print speed of up to 24 pages per minute for letter sized paper, the HP LaserJet P1505n will not keep you waiting when dealing with large projects and, even more notably, its first page out time of an amazingly fast 6.5 seconds places it in the highest ranks for single page speed against any machine available today, making it one of the best options for users who often print in very small quantities.

While the HP LaserJet P1505n is a proven champion for speed, it pretty much has nothing else to offer, which is a major plus for those looking to save a few dollars on a stripped down, no frills device, but who also require fast print times. Even with such quickness, the printer maintains high resolution output rated at 1200 x 1200 dots per inch with REt resolution enhancement, or HP FastRes 1200.

The unit’s built in memory ranks in at a very solid 32 MBs, a huge upgrade over the non network capable base model which comes equipped with only 2 MBs. With sufficient memory, multiple simultaneous incoming projects caused by network traffic will be sorted out without delay, and processed quickly. An additional 2 MBs of flash memory is included with the networked version of the device.

A 266 MHz processor is also thrown into the mix to help keep things moving along, and host based printing intelligently utilizes connected PCs to reduce processor strain on the printer. The HP Jetdirect Fast Ethernet embedded print server is great for wired networking, and an HP wireless printing upgrade kit is available as an optional add on for fast and easy wireless connectivity.

As the HP LaserJet P1505n is not designed for extremely heavy output, its maximum monthly duty cycle is limited to only 8,000 pages, and its recommended monthly print duty is only 250 to 2,000 pages. While these numbers would be unacceptable in an intensive office environment, this print volume is ideal for the home user, or small office with light print demands.

While cost effectiveness forbids the inclusion of an automatic duplexor, manual duplex options are available for two sided printing. With such minimalistic hardware, the HP LaserJet P1505n comes in a very small package, weighing only 12.9 pounds with a footprint of 14.9 in x 9.6 in x 8.9 in (W x D x H) securing it as one of the most manageable monochrome personal printers in both size and price. With so much speed squeezed into such a small package, buyers of the HP LaserJet P1505n will certainly be very happy.

The software application can only be installed on a PC with specific configuration, so the software application is installed on a server, which is present in the server room.

All this ensures that you frequently need to physically go to the server to check each step. This is pretty time consuming and breaks your thought process each time you leave your presentation. You might wonder if you could just access the server and, therefore, the software application, from your own PC. This can be easily achieved using a Remote Desktop Connection.

In our example, you can access the software application on the server and even capture the screen grabs you require. Then, you can use an e-mail application to send the screen grabs to yourself. You can even send the completed presentation to the remote PC and use its color printer to print copies of your presentation.

How can the Remote Desktop Connection be used at home?
