HP Enables Retailers to Enhance the Consumer Experience : Powers Retailers with a Comprehensive Portfolio of Products and Solutions Such as Point of Sale (POS) and Invoice Processing to Help Drive Operational Efficiencies and Growth for Retailers

HONG KONG (PRWEB) September 17, 2008

Building on HP’s consumer vision of delivering technology solutions and customer touch points that drive the best consumer experiences, HP supports the retail value chain – from bringing enriched technology experiences to engage with customers where they shop, to delivering products and solutions that enable retail businesses of all types to deliver improved experiences for their customers.

As an industry leader in retail, HP recently partnered with retail chain owner, Harvey Norman OFIS in Australia, to further their vision of driving a differentiated retail experience and provide a true one-stop-shop for print services to their customers. Using proven HP printing and imaging technology, the Harvey Norman OFIS print centre now provides customers with a wide range of consistent print services from office document printing, copying, finishing and photo prints to large format posters and photo books across their store locations.

The new offerings include the HP rp3000 Point of Sale (POS) Solution that can easily integrate into any retailer’s IT environment to help process sales transactions, manage inventory; two HP Color LaserJet devices that allow customers to produce offset equivalent quality documents and marketing materials in-house to help strengthen branding; and the HP Automated Invoice Processing Solution that is designed to accelerate the accounts payables workflow – permitting invoices to be processed in days rather than weeks.

“As the leading consumer IT vendor,(1) we understand that competitive differentiation is critical to business success, and are committed to helping retailers with hardware, software and services that provide a solid technology platform for retailers to streamline operations, keep pace with fluid customer demands and enhance the overall customer experience,” said Dennis Mark, Vice President and General Manager, Commercial Systems Unit, Personal Systems Group, HP Asia Pacific and Japan.

With the HP lineup, retailers will be able to bring affordable, scalable and integrative solutions into their business that will help boost productivity, optimize their technology investment, as well as strengthen branding and customer loyalty through in-house and outsource marketing capabilities.

Lee Hui Li, Director, LaserJet Systems and Toner Category, Imaging and Printing Group, HP Asia Pacific and Japan, said, “HP provides retailers with solutions to help them to reduce costs, increase efficiency and accelerate business results, so that they can focus on their customers. Furthermore, by providing solutions that can streamline their document-intensive processes, we can help them deliver a more efficient and accessible environment for managing and sharing information.”

Optimizing Operational Efficiencies and Reducing Cost

HP is helping retailers manage cost and maximize operational efficiencies with today’s introduction of new products and solutions that will allow them to differentiate their business from the competition and deliver a superior shopping experience to their consumers.

HP rp3000 Point of Sale (POS) Solution: delivers true value for retailers by organizing their operations with an affordable dual function business PC and sophisticated point of sale system. Ideal for smaller retailers, it provides a flexible and open solution that can easily integrate into any retailer’s IT environment. HP’s relationships with leading POS independent software vendors (ISVs) provide retailers with a holistic retail solution that can be customized based on retail business requirements. HP dc7900 Business Desktop PC: boasts the latest in PC technology, long life cycles, stable hardware and software images – especially critical for retailers that utilize the dc7900 as their primary workstation. The dc7900 also helps reduce operating costs through improved power saving technology, including new processors and an 85 percent efficient power supply. HP Automated Invoice Processing Solution: allows medium to large businesses to automate the value chain of invoice processing, from document capture and distribution across the organization to seamless integration with SAP. A joint HP and ReadSoft® solution, it captures data via an HP multifunction printer (MFP) and provides increased control over the invoice workflow to facilitate more rigorous records management and compliance; accelerated invoice payment process for better spending visibility; and improved invoice reconciliation through automated, business-rule driven processes. By using multifunction devices like the new HP Color LaserJet CM2320 MFP Series, a versatile four-in-one printer, retailers can further optimize costs and maximize efficiency with advanced printing, copying, scanning and faxing, while managing fewer consumables and utilizing less storage space. For the first time, HP is introducing color laser printers and MFPs which offer black and white printing at the same affordable price as HP’s monochrome LaserJets.(2) The new HP Color LaserJet Dual Pack Black Print Cartridges help businesses minimize interruptions and enhance productivity with two Original HP Color LaserJet Black Print Cartridges in one box. Strengthen Retail Branding with Affordable, Do-It-Yourself Marketing Solutions

HP also offers retailers do-it-yourself marketing solutions and professional, affordable design services to impress their customers with fast, customized promotions and marketing collaterals.

Retailers can harness the capabilities of their HP Color LaserJet devices, such as the new HP Color LaserJet CP2020 Printer series, which is designed for micro and small business customers looking to create vibrant business color prints without compromising speed. Together with HP’s newly formulated HP ColorSphere Toner that delivers 30 percent improvement in gloss and 7 percent improvement in color gamut, businesses can create high-impact yet affordable printshop quality marketing materials including documents, outstanding images and realistic photos in-house.(3) Retailers can also use the new HP Color LaserJet printers in combination with affordable online resources such tools and templates from Logoworks by HP, and a free HP IHM Starter kit that consists of a comprehensive package of free tools, templates, resources and materials for retailers to quickly and easily create and print corporate and marketing collaterals such as business cards, letterheads, product brochures and advertising flyers. Allowing retailers to take marketing in-house to the next level, the HP Designjet Z6100 Printer Series can produce a variety of professional high-impact prints and photos, including large format posters, exhibition graphics, point-of-purchase displays, as well as short-term outdoor signage without the need to outsource. Content creation has never been easier for retailers, using the powerful HP xw4550 Workstation and the HP DreamColor LP2480zx Display. Together, the solution offers retailers the ability to easily create material using rich graphics capabilities and the world’s first affordable color-critical 24-inch display that provides a range of more than 1 billion colors. Retailers can also look to professionally outsource their marketing jobs and leverage HP Indigo solutions to take advantage of variable data printing to produce personalized, customized short-run marketing collateral. Customized material such as promotional leaflets based on information on customer preferences and personalized communications such as direct mailers and greeting cards can be printed easily, greatly enhancing the customer experience. Securing Data and Reducing Business Risk

Critical to the success of a business, HP’s retail solutions feature comprehensive security and management systems which help to mitigate risks and inefficiencies that can impact customer service and retail competitiveness and profitability.

Protecting customer data is paramount to retailers. HP Backup and Recovery Manager allow retailers to protect data by encoding information on a hard drive so that it becomes unreadable to unauthorized individuals. HP ProtectTools™ Security Software Suite, available with the dc7900, allows retailers to manage credentials, encryption enablement, and restriction of select users to “read only” status. Physical security options are available on HP commercial systems, protecting systems from theft, tampering and unauthorized access. Ensuring that information only reaches authorized individuals, HP Digital Sending Software enables paper documents to be incorporated into electronic business processes easily and securely. From supported HP digital sending devices, digitized information can be sent quickly and securely to network folders, printers, and fax services, improving productivity, and reducing the costs of sharing and storing information. Remote Manageability and Fleet management

HP provides solutions for retailers easily deploying and managing multiple technology assets in one store, or across thousands.

HP’s Client Management Solutions help retailers manage and maintain PC assets throughout the lifecycle – from remote set-up and installation, monitoring PC health for remote troubleshooting to maintaining and managing a fleet of PCs. SHANGHAI, China (PRWEB) April 17, 2008

Today’s announcement is HP’s broadest-ever commercial range of printing solutions designed to help small to medium-sized businesses (SMBs) improve their marketing effectiveness, boost business productivity and better-manage their printing environments.

“As market leader, HP is continuing to drive innovation across its core printing business in addition to providing greater value beyond the device. This ultimately allows our SMB customers to improve their marketing effectiveness, increase productivity and better manage their business, all while allowing them to level the playing field against larger sized businesses,” said Herbert Koeck, Vice President, Commercial Printing, Imaging and Printing Group, Hewlett Packard Asia Pacific. “Today’s launch builds upon our Print 2.0 strategy, which will allow our SMB customers to print when and how they want – in-house, at retail or through a print service provider.”

According to IT research firm IDC, HP is the leading provider of both inkjet and laser hardcopy peripherals (printers + MFPs) shipped to SMBs* in the Asia Pacific (excl. Japan) region, with a 45%(caret) market share and strong double digit year-on-year growth of 16% in 4Q 2007. HP has held this No. 1 leadership position for the past 20 consecutive quarters(1). HP also continued to increase its lead in the high growth SMB* laser printer + laser All-in-One (AiO) segment in Asia Pacific (excl. Japan) in Q4 2007 with a strong 46% market share and 24% year-on-year growth(2).

The SMB printing space (including hardware, supplies and services) presents a tremendous opportunity for HP’s Imaging and Printing Group valued at US$ 103 billion globally by 2010. Within this market, there is a lucrative opportunity specifically for the development of in-house marketing collaterals. HP estimates this in-house marketing opportunity to be around US$ 40 billion by 2010.

Increasing SMBs’ Marketing Effectiveness

To capture this opportunity for the development of in-house marketing collaterals, HP has introduced new SMB-optimised colour printing solutions that are designed to help them cost-effectively create their own in-house marketing materials and boost their marketing effectiveness :

On Demand Printing Firm Expands its USB Flash Drive Duplication Capacity

Woburn, MA (PRWEB) June 7, 2008

Coptech Digital Inc, a woman-owned digital/offset printer and CD, DVD, and VHS duplicator, has expanded its USB flash drive duplication capacity to meet client demands for large runs and fast turns.

Coptech Digital has added large capacity USB flash duplication to allow their duplication department to copy customers’ source data to multiple drives at a time. Coptech is also offering these USB duplicators for sale to customers who wish to have Coptech Digital print on them, but duplicate themselves as needed.

“We have experienced an increased demand for USB flash drive duplication from our clients who wanted to utilize a new trend in marketing,” said Tom Cherry, President of Coptech Digital. “There are no USB flash drive duplication services with print capabilities in the Boston area; everyone is outsourcing, so we saw this as an opportunity to offer the service in-house for all our customers. This allows us to provide much faster turnaround times than the West Coast or offshore providers.”

Coupled with Coptech Digital’s capacity to screenprint 25,000 five-color CDs or DVDs per day and their normal daytime duplication capacity of 10,000 discs, Coptech Digital can now complete most USB flash drive duplication orders in 24 hours with full in-house quality control. When combined with digital/offset print capabilities on their HP Digital/Offset Press, Coptech Digital can print, duplicate and package very large jobs in a short period of time for the most demanding customers.

For more information about their USB flash drive duplication capabilities and other on demand printing services, visit www.coptechdigital.com

About Coptech Digital:

Coptech Digital has more than 20 years of experience in media duplication, and is a winner of the SGIA Golden Image award for screenprinting as well as a recent Pinnacle Printing award from Printing Industries of New England. Coptech Digital specializes in color matching, corporate marketing materials, variable data printing, fulfillment and mailings. Print from a USB flash drive

In this video I unbox yet another USB flash drive. I got this from argos for £29.35 and it’s the 4GB version, there is also a 2GB and 8GB version. I was thinking about getting the 2GB but I thought that for what I was paying for a 2GB I might as well get a 4GB. I got it from Argos extra, since the Argos near me doesn’t sell them. And yes it does have the finger print scanner on it, and it does exactly what it says in the box. I will try and get a review done soon so that you can see what I think about it. Data Loading Customised USB Flash Drive

print usb
by *USB*

The use USB Flash drives printed with a company logo or brand and possibly a contact phone number or web address is very popular at the moment with millions being produced every year.

Typical uses for the printed USB flash drives include:

Trade shows and exhibition give-aways
Press launches and press events
Conferences and seminars
Sales team “leave-behinds”
Promotional campaign “give-aways”
Staff incentives and staff work tools
Student Fresher Fair incentives

Of course this list is just a snapshot of what USB flash drives are used for with more and more innovative uses being found everyday including photographers using them to distribute client portfolios to mothers buying baby scans on USB flash drives!

Whilst USB flash drives do an excellent job of promoting a company’s brand and generating brand loyalty and recall you can get much more “bang for your buck” if, when ordering branded USB flash drives, you pre-load them with data files. The fundamental function of a USB flash drive is, after all, to store and transport data so it make sense when distributing USB flash drives to ensure your own data files are pre-loaded onto the drives.

Pre-loading data files does mean you have to factor this step into your own project plan but data-loading can be done during the manufacturing process or just prior to delivery so you don’t have to have your finalised files ready when placing your order. If you can supply the data when the flash drives are being manufactured the data will be loaded onto the drives during the manufacturing process and typically the cost for this is negligible. If you want the data pre-loaded a little later in the order cycle, i.e. just before delivery, then be prepared to pay a little more for it because it’s a much more manual process.

Given the relatively small incremental cost for data-loading its really a “no-brainer” because the more information you can put on the drive about your company, your products or your announcements the less you have to print and the less transportation costs you’ll have for any printed material. So, not only will you save a small fortune on printed collateral but you’ll make life easier for anyone you’re giving the USB flash drives to because they won’t have to lug around large files, sales brochures or presentation files/notes.

In some cases, where you would normally print, collate and transport lots of printed material, its possible to build a cost benefit case that shows you can offset all of the costs of buying printed flash drives purely by pre-loading them with data and reducing your print, storage and transport costs.

IOGEAR’s palm sized 1-port USB 2.0 Print Server allows any networked computer to share an USB printer. It complies with USB 2.0 specifications (backward compatible with USB 1.1 spec.), and provides users with an auto-sensing Ethernet port that works with either 10Base-T or 100Base-T networks. This unit also supports multiple protocols and multiple operating systems, and it integrates Internet Printing Protocol (IPP) in this print server to allow users to print from any computer over a LAN/WAN or the Internet by specifying the device’s URL. The built-in web management feature provides more convenience by allowing the user to configure, monitor and even reset the print server via a web browser. This eliminates the need to place the printer right next to the computer. Print jobs can be sent to a printer in another country just as easily as to a printer in the same office. Why bother sending a degraded fax image while you can print an original at the destination?

What is a USB Flash Drive?

USB Flash drives are considered to be one of the most popular storage devices on the market. They were first introduced to the public by IBM in 1998. They received instant popularity when they were launched and they have replaced both floppy discs and CDs. You can take them anywhere, on your key ring, in your wallet, or in your pocket. One benefit is the fact that they are rewritable, meaning that they can keep all of the memory stored without a power supply.

The USB flash drive comes in various formats: a 256MB, 512MB, 1GB, 128GB etc. The one that you choose depends on how much storage you need and how much you are willing to pay for the device. As of 2006, there were USB flash drives that could hold as much as 16GB of information and could be used with any computer as long as it supports the USB mass storage file system. Most computers have this format and it is very hard to not find one that has it. USB flash drives are also known as “chip sticks“, “thumb drives“, “pen drives“, and “USB keys“.

Flashbay is one company that is a leading provider in USB flash drives, as well as other forms of storage devices. They have all different flash drives available, in multiple colours and storage formats. You can also have the USB flash drives monogrammed with your name or a company logo for business purposes.

When USB flash drives were first introduced to the public, they were very simple in style and shape. Usually, if they were available in different colours, then it was only primary colours. Many of the devices were not even patented yet, and IBM was one of the sole companies that sold the products.
Now, you can purchase a USB drive in any colour, style, company, etc.

In order to better explain the process, USB stands for “Universal Standard Bus“. This means that it is a port that can be used with any type of computer to access a number of accessories, programs, and files. A USB flash drive is compact and acts as a removable storage device that allows the user to store very large quantities of information without losing it when the device is removed.

Inside of the tiny device is a small printed circuit board that is enclosed in a sturdy plastic shell and sometimes a metal shell. For extreme hard wearing, metal is the way to go. The only part of the device that you can remove from the shell is the cap. It protects the USB protruded end of the device that connects to the computer.

You do not need another power source or a battery for the USB flash drive to function on the computer.
However, the only way to access any of the information on the port is to be connected to a computer. Students find that a USB flash drive is essential for all of their important documents. Most high school students and college students are always having to use a computer for their school work. Instead of using paper, they can simply store all of the information on the USB flash drive.

In recent years, floppy discs were thought to be easily damaged or could be erased if you held them in a particular way. CDs are also easily scratched. With the use of a USB flash drive you can save your desktop programs so that you can access them from another computer. The future for the flash drives is very large and they are only thought to improve from here on out.
