Usb Flash Drives Enable Eco-friendly Brand Recognition

USB flash drives have forever changed the way people work with data. They are memory data storage devices integrated with a Universal Serial Bus(USB.)Flash drive production is giving users a fast and convenient way to custom brand products for gifts, incentives, trade shows, and marketing or PR content.

USB flash drives enable customized data to be added — ideal for businesses and marketing professionals to use as promotional gifts. Businesses can imprint their company logos on a variety of USB products for brand recognition, sending custom content to anyone, anywhere, very quickly.

Flash flash drives are also eco-friendly compared to paper marketing materials. They also store more data in a small space, and they are rewritable, therefore a nice gift. Lightweight, robust and easy to carry, these small memory sticks have become indispensable to both individuals and organizations.

Less than a year or two ago, many marketers spent thousands of dollars designing and printing press kits and brochures to take to industry trade shows for the media and trade show attendees. Today with the concerns for our environment, printing a lot of paper that may be thrown away just doesn’t seem like the right thing to do. Most media appreciate receiving light weight items such as CDs or DVDs anyway. And now they love getting USB flash drives. And the best part about receiving a USB flash drive with information about a company is that it can always be reused after the information about the company they are covering is downloaded onto a hard drive. It’s a win-win situation for everyone.

USB Flash Drive production enables logo branding so businesses can imprint their company logos on a variety of USB products for brand recognition, and customize the data within. Messaging is key to branding, and products like USB flash drives will linger around on someone’s desk for a long time, exposing the brand identity of the company where it originally came from.

As gifts and giveaways, USB flash drives are a great way to promote brands and business as they are personal, highly visible, long-lasting and extremely useful.

USB flash drives can be reused tomorrow for another purpose, and they are often more efficient than cd manufacturing.

Often times these companies will also load a user’s content and help them auto-run an application. Content mastering goes beyond simple file preloading. A production line utilizes high-speed specialized machines for data preloading.

Kristin Gabriel is the marketing communications director for Acutrack, Inc. The company enables customers to create, publish and deliver custom content for DVD and CD distribution worldwide. Acutrack’s proprietary On Demand production gives customers the ability to produce and ship custom packaged CDs or DVDs one at a time. Promotional Usb Drives: not Just for Techies Anymore

There used to be a widespread idea that USB drives were used exclusively by computer industry professionals. While that notion was true five years ago, USB drives have become the ubiquitous tech accessory owned by everybody from the CEO to the janitor. And that’s exactly what makes it a great promotional item for just about any event.

Choosing the Best Promotional Items

Every promotional item, whether it’s a cheap notepad or a premium leather bag, should do one thing – get your organization remembered. It might be for a one-time event or as an advertisement for a certain product or service. That’s why you bother to spend the extra money to get the name of your company or organization printed on the item.

Most professionals in the advertising and PR industry agree that the best way to make your organization and your event memorable is to use promotional items that are useful to your target audience. Think about it: whenever they use your event giveaway, they see your organization’s insignia or the event’s logo. On the side of the recipient, it’s a visual reminder of your organization, and it creates ‘good vibes’ because they benefited from it.

In the computing world, little gadget bags and toolkits are common giveaways at conventions. Writing materials and little notepads are often gifts at journalism events. But the best promotional items are those which everyone can use, because then you’ll be worrying less about whether your giveaways will be useful or not.

Why the Promotional USB Drives Are the Best

Just take a quick survey among your friends or the people in your household, and you’ll quickly find out that almost all of them own at least one USB drive. It’s a very common item nowadays as people have realized that they need to bring a lot of personal data with them everywhere they go. That’s one reason why a promotional USB drive would be a great item for your event. You’re assured that everybody who gets one will use it.

USB drives are also the kinds of devices that everybody brings around everywhere. Tech magazines often point out that even corporate executives always have a USB drive handy for small files. That’s the kind of exposure that your organization will get when you use promotional USB drives for giveaways. Just imagine the kind of recall you’ll generate when the recipient – and other people – will see your organization’s logo on a daily basis.

Another big reason why USB drives would make a great promotional item is the cost. They were prohibitively expensive items until about three years ago, but you can now get one at your nearest electronics store for under $10, and even less if you’re buying bulk. Remember that you’ll be buying at least several dozens of your promotional items. USB drives let you minimize overhead while maximizing benefits and utility for the recipients.

In the same vein, it’s also relatively inexpensive to get your organization’s name or event’s details printed on USB drives. Their surfaces are usually made of common materials like plastic or aluminum, so any printer can do the job for you. They’re an easy and accessible way of getting your organization remembered.

For something to be a ‘good’ promotional item, it has to be handy enough for people to use it on a daily basis, and simple-designed enough for your organization’s name to be printed on it. You might not be able to print your entire mission statement on a diminutive promotional USB drive, but it certainly fits that description.

Cheap Branded Usb Flash Drives ? Myth Or Reality

Everyone loves a bargain but is there such a thing as a good quality, cheap printed USB memory stick. Considering that any item that is printed with your company’s brand effectively becomes an ambassador for you company its important when sourcing branded products that you don’t compromise on the core quality of the product by buying cheap.

This is particularly true of branded flash drives that bear your company logo. Anyone given a printed memory stick is going to want to trust it to store and carry data on. They will expect any promotional memory stick carrying a corporate brand to perform equally as well as, if not better, than memory sticks from regular brands such as Kingston, Sony or Transcend. If you’re printed memory sticks underperforms or worse fails and the user loses their treasured or important data this negative memory will be associated with your brand.

Equally if you want to pre-load the memory sticks you are buying with data before your distribute them then you don’t want to discover when you come to load them that they are slow or worse fail. Today its common for memory sticks to be loaded with Sales Sheets, Product Sheets, Web Links, Audio and Movie Files and other sales collateral. Implicitly you need this data to be accessible and readable otherwise why go to the trouble of preparing it and loading it. Trusting it to a cheap, sub standard memory stick that might have been manufactured using Grade B (recycled) flash memory chip sets would be false economy.

The core component of any memory stick is the flash memory module and the controller chip that goes with it. These have a price in the market just like any commodity and most factories that assemble memory sticks buy from the same small number of flash manufacturers at the prevailing rate. The price variance in the market of the finished memory stick (within a given memory size) is driven by the costs of the shell/case around this core component, the assembly costs, the manufacturers profit margin and the currency exchange rate to bring the memory sticks into the country. Given this the price for any printed flash drive should be broadly similar so if you are being offered prices below the general market price ask yourself why but more importantly ask your supplier why. Ensure you get some guarantees on the grade of chipset being used and check the credentials of the supplier.
In reality the only safe way to reduce the cost of branded memory sticks is to:

Buy memory sticks with a smaller capacity, e.g. 128MB instead of 1GB. The smaller the memory capacity the cheaper the stick but don’t go too small or you will give the user little incentive to carry and use it.
Plan ahead to ensure you allow sufficient time to get them printed at the point of manufacture e.g. in China. Last minute orders mean your supplier will have to print them locally and local printing is typically 3-4 times more expensive.
Avoid times of high demand and limited supply when the prices are driven upwards. Typically this is during Chinese New Year and in the run up to Christmas.

As with everything in life you get what you pay for and printed memory sticks are no exception!

USB Flash Drives

A USB flash drive is a compact USB flash memory drive that acts like a portable hard drive, letting you store and transport your computer data.

Flash drive or Thumb drive are plug and play devices. It does not require additional installations. Windows XP will auto detect and show the device in Windows Explorer after it is plugged into the USB port.

Of course, no one uses cassettes anymore. USB Flash drive media is great for delivering custom marketing presentations, promotional give-aways, catalogs, software distribution, and more. Thanks to its reusable format, portability, and solid state design USB Flash drives are in circulation much longer than discs and Disc Makers is your resource for blank or custom printed USB drives.

Why we name it as USB Flash Drives because the storage technology behind it is called flash memory. It’s a non-volatile memory that can store little data chunks especially when there’s no power. When the chunks need to be larger the specific flash kind is used.

USB flash drives come in all different shapes and sizes but are usually no bigger than a pack of gum. Other terms you may have heard that are synonymous with this type of device are thumb drives, pen drives, pocket drives, etc. The small size of these devices should be of concern when evaluating their use in your environment; especially from an information security perspective. They are easy to hide, can store a considerable amount of data, are simple to use, easily accessible and very affordable.

If proper steps are not taken to secure your computing environment, a USB flash drive would be an ideal means of collecting valuable information and literally pocketing it. So what steps can be taken to secure your environment against these potentially sinister little devices?

A USB drive has many advantages:

The USB drives come encased within a tough plastic shell that protects them from dust and other kinds of damage such as scratches, unlike optical disks whose data-recording surface remains exposed to the elements. USB drives do not need a separate drive to be installed in the computer. They are stand-alone, independent devices that draw power from the computer itself. USB drives are not dependent on a particular platform. They are platform-independent and can be used with any operating system. These drives are quite small and a number of these can fit easily in a man’s short pocket. They are also very light in weight. When you insert the USB drive into the computer, you do not have to reboot the machine for it to recognise the device. You can start using it immediately. USB drives draw power from the computer itself. They do not need batteries to run or require an external power supply. USB drives are very reliable and can last for a number of years. Unlike read-only optical disks, data can be written and re-written on USB drives thousands of times without any problem. USB drives, as the name suggests, use the Universal Serial Bus (USB) interface to communicate with the operating system. This powerful interface allows these drives to transfer data to the computer at speeds that are about 10 times higher than those offered by a hard disk. Despite their small size and negligible weight, USB drives have phenomenal capacities. The commonly available drives come in sizes of 1 GB to 8 GB. There are drives manufactured by some companies which have a staggering 65 GB capacity A USB drive has no moving parts. It is made up of an integrated circuit and a flash memory card. There is hardly any wear and tear. Contrast this with a hard disk that has platters spinning at 7,200 RPM, with the read / write head hovering above. Because of the absence of any delicate or moving parts, a USB drive is immune to impact trauma to a large extent. It does not develop a malfunction if it is dropped to the ground.

Because there are no moving parts inside, USB drives have minimal power requirements. This makes them ideal substitutes for hard disks inside laptops.

Hard drives store data on platters coated with magnetic paint. This makes them vulnerable to strong magnetic fields which can destroy their digital data. USB drives have no magnetic parts. Instead they store data in a memory card which is totally immune to magnetic fields.

As the capacity of USB drives increases with time and prices drop, they are definitely going to pose a threat to the hard disk industry for becoming the prime data-storage devices used inside computers and laptops.

Cheap Printed Flash Drives

If you’re searching the internet for a supplier of cheap printed USB flash drives then its worth just making sure that you understand the different response such a search could generate.

Ask one supplier for cheap printed flash drives and they might construe this to mean you are willing to accept Grade B (recycled or refurbished flash chips) and that you’re not overly concerned about the fabrication standards and that you’re willing to put up with a “few failures”. Others might assume you have a budget to work to and will try and sell you smaller memory capacities to fit your budget.

If you are looking for the “best value” 1GB printed flash drives then you need to make sure when you ask for a price that you want:

New Grade A Chipset flash ideally from a named manufacturer, e.g Samung or Hynix
True 1GB of memory and not cheap substitute flash chips that are only 512MB but have been masked to appear as though they are 1GB
Good quality casings that won’t fall apart when first used
A high quality of print or engraving that won’t scratch off within a day or two
A fully inclusive price rather than a headline-grabbing price with lots of “extras” for print origination, print set-up, mock-ups, data loading, boxes, delivery etc.
USB flash drives that are fully compliant with the RoHS legislation (failure to comply could result in hefty fines for you)

Its not unheard of for suppliers to offer jaw-dropping prices for branded USB memory sticks only to then deliver cheap, sub-standard products with a high failure rate and poor print. Often it’s these suppliers that are difficult to track down and take ownership of the problem when things go wrong.

When you’d buying promotional products that will carry your company’s brand its incredibly important that they uphold the brand values invested in your company. A cheap and nasty USB flash drive with poor print and a propensity to fail is not something you really want as an ambassador for your brand.

Of course some companies may have some genuine deals and offers and just be clearing stock and in these circumstance providing you can get clarity on the above points then you might just grab a bargain. But all too often the old adage of “If it’s sounds too good to be true then it probably isn’t true”.

Buying printed flash drives is no different to buying other things in life; be clear of what you want, research the pitfalls, get some comparative quotes, research the sellers, ideally get some references from previous customer and don’t always buy on price and price alone – particularly when the item in question is going to carry your brand on it!
