HP LaserJet 4100 ? Expandable 250 MHz Monochrome Printer

The HP LaserJet 4100 series is a set of monochrome laser printing machines designed not only to operate with impressive speed and power, but to offer users complete customization over their hardware with options such as an additional paper tray and network card for Ethernet support. The base model 4100 also comes stock with a range of unique features of its own such as data retention.

When either an optional internal hard drive is incorporated into the HP LaserJet 4100′s hardware, or an increase in memory totaling at least 32 MBs, HP’s Rip Once data retention options become active. When in use, frequently used information can be stored internally in the device and reproduced quickly. While the memory is expandable up to 265 MBs, the device’s standard 16 MBs of built in memory is not enough to activate the feature.

In the 4100′s three model variations with standard upgrades, the HP LaserJet 4100n, HP LaserJet 4100tn, and HP LaserJet 4100dtn, 32 MBs is standard, and would be expected for a model of this type considering that all three of the upgrades include network options. With the additional demands required of an Ethernet device, simultaneous input sources could potentially cause significant slowdown.

Other optional improvements found in the upgraded models include an additional 500 sheet paper tray and an automatic duplexor. On the models with additional trays, or upgraded base models, the HP LaserJet 4100′s total paper storage capacity totals 1,100 sheets, which includes the 100 additional sheets found in the device’s priority feed slot.

Available for separate purchase is a 75 page envelope feeder which is perfect for businesses that require a large amount of custom postage. The external automatic duplexor can also be added to any of the models lacking it, and makes double sided printing completely mechanical, saving users time, and reducing paper costs by as much as half.

With HP’s Ultra Precise toner, ProRes 1200 dot per inch resolution is selectable for maximum quality, and FastRes 1200 can also be chosen for optimal speed, though quality will suffer to a very small degree. When FastRes is in use, the advertised print speed becomes up to 25 pages per minute for letter sized paper, and up to 24 pages per minute for legal sized, making the HP LaserJet 4100 one of the faster small office printers on the market.

A 250 MHz built in RISC processor should keep print speeds high even under network stress, while HP’s Instant On fuser keeps warm up time at zero and first page out time at only 12 seconds. The unit’s incredible monthly duty cycle of 150,000 imprinted pages suggests that even under constant abuse, the HP LaserJet 4100 will function without incident.

As a small to medium sized office workgroup printer, the HP LaserJet 4100 functions adequately, though its price range most likely prevents it from being ideal for home use. Its bulkiness contributes to this as well, but should be no problem for an office building with any reasonable amount of workspace.

HP LaserJet P2035 ? Simplified, Fast, Monochrome Laser Printer

With only one, single expandability option, things couldn’t be simpler with the HP LaserJet P2035, a unit designed for users with the most minimal of needs as far as print versatility, who still demand notably fast print speeds and an affordable price.

Only two versions of the HP LaserJet P2035 are available; the base model and the HP LaserJet P2035n network ready version. With no memory expansion options or additional paper trays available, what you see is what you get when you open the box. Different variations on network capabilities are, however, available for purchase separately, such as an external wireless accessory, but that is all.

Though the HP LaserJet P2035 is a stripped down unit, HP has not skimped on raw speed, and the unit pumps out up to 30 pages per minute onto letter sized paper. Additionally, HP’s Instant On fuser technology allows for a warm up time of virtually zero, and a first page out time of approximately 8 seconds. With such a fast time for first page out, the unit is ideal for those who most commonly print in small quantities.

A 266 MHz processor is just powerful enough to ensure that print speeds remain at their peak, while an on board memory of 16 MBs should prove to be just enough for text documents. Unfortunately, without memory expansion options, complex print projects and imagery will almost certainly suffer a degree of slowdown. Additionally, the HP LaserJet P2035 is capable of only a 600 x 600 dot per inch print resolution, even when utilizing resolution enhancement, making it easily one of the lowest image quality printers available, and not suitable for photos of any kind.

With a maximum monthly duty cycle of up to 25,000 pages, the HP LaserJet P2035 is not entirely limited as far as heavy paper output, though HP does recommend only a 500 to 2,500 page monthly volume for maximum lifespan. Paper handling abilities come in the form of a single 250 sheet letter or legal sized tray, and a helpful 50 sheet multipurpose tray that is compatible with special media types such as custom letterhead and card stock.

While the output tray holds up to 150 sheets, no paper storage expansion options are available for the HP LaserJet P2035. The device is also void of any luxury hardware additions such as an automatic duplexor, though manual duplexing is made possible by included software. A single high speed USB 2.0 port is the only connectivity option left open on the base model, while the HP LaserJet P2035n also includes an Ethernet port.

The HP LaserJet P2035 comes in a compact package of only 14.4 in x 14.5 in x 10.1 in (W x D x H) and a weight of 21.8 lbs, making it the perfect device for those looking to save a little space on their desk, but still maintain advanced print speeds. HP’s limited one year warranty and replacement plan also contributes to the printer’s overall value, and ensures customer satisfaction from this unique model.

HP LaserJet P3005 ? Monochrome Laser Series with Network Options

The HP LaserJet P3005 printer series was designed to be flexible, better suiting it for very specific work demands. With five model variations available, buyers can choose the hardware set that best suits their needs, without wasting money on accessories that are frivolous.

While the base model operates at up to 35 pages per minute, which stays constant throughout each of the five models, certain variations in the hardware include more standard RAM memory, allowing for better print speed consistency when dealing with larger printing tasks. Also consistent among the printers in the series is the efficient 400 MHz processor.

Model variation options include a HP LaserJet P3005d duplexing model, which makes double sided printing automatic, as well as includes additional standard memory, and the HP LaserJet P3005n printer which includes an HP Jetdirect fast Ethernet embedded print server and a total of 80 MBs of on board memory.

The base model comes equipped with only 48 MBs of internal memory, but all printers in the HP LaserJet P3005 are expandable up to 320 MBs. The HP LaserJet P3005dn variation comes complete with both duplexing capabilities and a Jetdirect Ethernet card, and, lastly, the HP LaserJet P3005x comes with duplexing, networking, and an additional 500 sheet paper tray for a total storage capacity of 1,100 sheets.

Standard paper handling abilities come in the form of a single 500 sheet paper tray and a 100 sheet multipurpose tray for special media types such as envelopes, card stock, and transparencies. The additional 500 sheet tray can be added to the models that lack it, and can be useful when constant switching back and forth from letter to legal sized paper is necessary. Output capacity rests at a very comfortable 250 sheets and an additional 100 sheet rear output bin. Up to 10 envelopes or 75 transparencies can also be exported to these bins.

The HP LaserJet P3005 comes with more connectivity options than we often see in bare bones laser printers, and includes an IEEE 1284-B compliant parallel port as well as a Hi Speed USB 2.0 port. Networked models also include an active Ethernet port, and all printers in the series come with an open EIO slot for expansion.

On top of the HP LaserJet P3005 series’ incredibly fast print speed, the unit also comes equipped with HP Instant On technology which allows for a warm up time of virtually zero and a first page out time of only 9.5 seconds. True 1200 x 1200 dot per inch resolution is attainable, and HP FastRes 1200 gives users a 1200 dpi equivalent while maintaining the device’s top print speed.

Further expandability options include various warranty extensions for up to three years, as well as HP Jetdirect wireless USB 2.0 print servers, and other wireless connectivity options which can help to make networking the device easier than ever. An additional hard drive can be useful for storing frequently used data for long terms, helping to get the most out of this fast, user friendly monochrome printer.
