tetra ornament scissor path

Feel free to download the PDF file from the link below, it’s an all-in-one file intended to print proper equilaterals ON A4 PAPER
with candy-stripe backgrounds on separate pages…

files.me.com/raytibbitts/jkc6c1

The way I made my tetrahedron / pyramid shaped ornament was to print the backgrounds first (it takes three pages) and then ran the same sheets back through the printer for just the outlines.

If I did it twice, I could have made an octahedron instead – such as…

Question by Don’t be stupid!: do I need a usb cable to print photos from my hp model 209a wireless printer?
I purchased a HP wireless printer for my daughter for Christmas, I have been told that to print photos I have to use a usb cable. I don’t understand why a wireless printer needs a cable to print photos, can anyone explain this or have I been misinformed?

Harley and Marley the Farley twins had gone to the Feuerstein photograph studio last Friday for a portrait sitting.

Today when they saw the prints, Harley remarked, “Do I have a moustache?” He was also a little troubled as he had always considered himself taller than Marley.

Marley however was only concerned about the other three guys in the photo. Where did they come from? The photographer, Sims Napoleon, quickly explained that in an effort to slow global warming the studio was conserving paper by shooting and printing several portraits all in one frame. Marley and Harley the Farley twins thought this was a noble effort and paid Mr. Napoleon the four dollar fee for a print for each of them, including one for photographer Feuerstein who was home with the flu. They left a five cent tip.

Marley, one of the Farley twins, excused himself and excitedly exited, hurrying off for his fiancée’s farm to show her the new portrait. He knew she would faint when she found that there were actually FIVE Farley twins. It would be fun explaining that.

Harley, also one of the Farley twins, went directly to the Dooley Delicatessen on Delmar for a dozen doughnuts and a pair of lifts for his shoes. He was glad to learn about the three other brothers as he was keen to borrow their clothes. Harley was always planning ahead.

TWO STEREOVIEWS Printed from the SAME NEGATIVE
all in one printing

Okinawa_Soba has always argued that the real photograph is the original negative. After that, all prints pulled from it are simply either careless, careful, or nominal interpretations.

Ansel Adams’ famous "MOONRISE" photograph was a different "interpretation" every time he came out of the darkroom with one. Selective burning, dodging, and development times — all on different papers over the years he produced it — gave each print it’s own nuanced "personality".

The above pair of stereoviews — slapped onto my scanner and posted as is — act as a good argument for demanding to see the negative before passing judgment on the particular skill of any photographer.

While other visiting photographers preferred to develop the negatives in Japan, Herbert Ponting, processed many of his negatives only upon returning to the USA, including (I believe) the above stereoview taken in 1903. In his 1910 book IN LOTUS-LAND JAPAN, Ponting himself described some disappointments and time wasted on failed negatives that he could not go back and recapture. These failures were, of course, never commercially produced.

How the folks at Underwood & Underwood printed and processed the images from Ponting’s good negatives is a whole ‘nother story. The above were done several years apart during the last decade of the Meiji era. Poor storage conditions might also have made a contribution to the excessive fading of the top image.

If all you had was the top stereoview of Mount Fuji, you might think, "…What a lousy exposure — what kind of photographer was this Ponting guy, anyway….?"

Today, the "real photos" taken by digital cameras — existing as binary bits on an SD Card (or whatever) — are just as subject to interpretation once they get thrown into PhotoShop in lieu of the old darkroom.

Actually, even more so !

Fortunately, most of the "nominal prints" made from the raw digital data are not as widely varied as the above two stereoviews !

Amee and Pogo

I was doing errands in uptown minneapolis and met a bunch of youngsters promoting Polaroid Pogo. Polaroid has come out with a small hand-held mobile printing device which can instantly print small size photos directly from any digital camera which has a USB connection. They took my photo as you can clearly see and gave it to me. Honestly I was not very impressed with the print quality but still it is a fun little device and I am already tempted lol. I think retail is 0 but I would go to their website and check on that. Just wanted to share this interesting story. Hope you like. Click below to read more about Polaroid Pogo and if you actually land up buying one let me know about your experience. Cheers!
