Question by Jorge Mondragon: Why won’t my hp officejet 4200 all-in-one scan?
My printer can fax, print, and copy but is unable to scan. When I attempt to scan something a message on the screen reads ” No scan options. You need to install or run device software for feature” I don’t understand why it is displaying that message since the software is installed. Can anyone help? Thanks

If you installed the software correctly, go in control panel and click on Scanners and Cameras and you should see the HP icon there. Click it and you are ready to scan.

Or go in your START menu and click on HP Solution Center in the HP folder to activate the scanner. You can scan from there as well.

Note that even if you press the SCAN button on the scanner, you NEED to load the software first or you will get that message “No scan options’

HP LaserJet Pro M1130 ? Everyday Print, Scan, Copy Machine

The HP LaserJet Pro M1130 is part of a series HP has designed to be suitable for both home and office use. With various expanded versions of the product available with included hardware such as fax modems and network cards, the LaserJet Pro M1130 sits as the bare bones, base unit for the series, and is perfect for the individual user looking to add a full range of basic print, copy, and scan features to their hardware set, while keeping cost at a minimum.

With a flatbed design that does not include an automatic document feeder, the HP LaserJet Pro M1130 allows only for single copies and scans to be performed at one time. However, a flip top design makes for easy access and three dimensional scan capabilities for objects such as books or magazines. A full, legal sized document glass also allows for the maximum scan surface one would find on a personal MFC.

Though the HP LaserJet Pro M1130 does not include a fax machine or networking functions, its rudimentary print and copy features are excellent for the price range.  No memory card expandability or external duplex options also reduce the overall flexibility of the unit, while keeping costs at a minimum. While additional paper storage is also not available, the unit’s 150 sheet input tray may prove to be enough for the single user.

Paper output capacity comes at a surprisingly large proportion to the input tray, with a 100 sheet face down bin incorporated into the device. With such a small input tray, an output tray this large almost doesn’t even make sense, though one could potentially find uses for it when taking advantage of the up to 99 maximum copies at once from a single source.

The scan features are very basic, and minimal. The device advertises a scan rate of up to 6 pages per minute but, without a built in automatic document feeder, this seems highly unlikely to be performed entirely by hand. Optical scanning resolution is high, at 1200 dots per inch, and a bit depth of 24 is also of decent quality. Convenient scan to e mail, scan to application, and scan to file options make for a high versatility level, but in a heartbreaking twist of fate, no dedicated controls for these features are mounted to the device, forcing users to make trips back and forth from the PC to operate scan functions.

Standard memory is quite low, at only 8 MBs, and is not expandable, yet processing speed is quite high, at 400 MHz. The HP LaserJet Pro M1130′s maximum monthly duty cycle of a very low 8,000 pages further solidifies the device’s stance as a light duty, personal printer, and with HP’s recommendation of only 250 to 2,000 sheets, high capacity output becomes even less of an option. The HP LaserJet Pro M1130 is a perfect device for one looking for a very well rounded unit at an affordable price, without all the bells and whistles that make some devices more complicated.

I have an HP all-in one. How do I make the scanner scan full 8.5 x 11 page without automatically cropping?

When I scan a signature page it automatically crops it to a long narrow page that is only as wide as the signature block. There is a auto cropping box but it is not checked. THis is HP Director Software and the machine is HP Colo LaserJet 2840.
