New SONY UP-D72XR Digital Film Imager Ideal for Diagnostic Imaging Systems such as Mobile C-Arm Units, Ultrasound Systems, and Cardiac Cath Lab

Carlsbad, CA (PRWEB) November 17, 2005

Scientific Vision Systems (SVS), one of the leading distributors of medical and professional video equipment, today announced introduction of the new Sony UP-D72XR Digital Film Imager. The unit is ideal for diagnostic imaging systems such as mobile C-Arm units, ultrasound systems, and cardiac cath labs.

According to Dick Wheeler, President of SVS, “The new Sony UP-D72XR Digital Film Imager prints an 8 x 10 image using Sony’s advanced 300 dpi direct thermal printing technology. The high resolution black and white imager connects into Microsoft Windows® 2000 or XP environments via its digital USB 2.0 connector, so it’s an easy plug-and-play solution with a high speed data interface.” Wheeler further notes that the new Sony unit is appealing to diagnostic imaging facilities because it is about half the price of current color models and offers photo-like film and prints due to its 512 levels of grayscale.

The unit produces an 8 x 10 inch output in 40 seconds or less on standard Blue Thermal Film or Thermal Printing Paper. The unit incorporates an automatic gamma curve adjustment that detects the correct media type (film or paper) and ensures precise grayscale reproduction. The printer can also be used for reference image printing by using the FilmLink feature to connect it to the Sony FilmStation imager. In addition to USB connectivity, the unit can also be connected through a parallel port. Flexible connectivity allows users to produce simultaneous reference prints.

The unit is ideal for a wide variety of diagnostic imaging environments ranging from smaller offices and clinics up to high-volume centralized facilities. Using the UP-D72XR allows users to produce fast simultaneous reference prints for the ever-growing list of office modalities.
