Retrevo Identifies Top Five Tech Troubles

Sunnyvale, Calif. (PRWEB) December 1, 2006

Retrevo has found the most frequent troubleshooting topics for today’s consumer electronics products by analyzing the search patterns of Retrevo registered users who self-identify as ‘gadget gurus.’ Among the top troubleshooting topics searched on Retrevo for the past 45 days were, ‘poor battery life,’ ‘playback problems,’ ‘connection problems,’ ‘heat issues’ and an assortment of searches for various product recalls.

In an effort to break the cycle of troublesome tech purchases, Retrevo’s team of in-house gadget geeks culled the results of 45 days of troubshooting and tech support queries on the consumer electronics search engine to find that five product features and categories were the most difficult to support or maintain.

Battery Life – “poor battery life” and “battery problems” were the most searched issues by Retrevo registered users

Playback – with recording and storage of digital media becoming a feature in so many products today, playback problems were a common troubleshooting search

Connection – the most common “connection problems” were between older analog televisions and newer tech gadgets.

Product recall – Retrevo users weren’t trying to remember what products they bought, but they were checking to see if there had been any recalls on products they were researching.

Heat issues – a commonly searched, but often unfixable problem, the most frequent recommended solution for heat issues was proper ventilation.

“We are fast becoming a source for consumer electronics troubleshooting on the web because Retrevo has deep-web knowledge and accurate product documentation no other search engine can find,” said Vipin Jain, CEO, Retrevo. “Gadget gurus all over the web are discovering what a great tool Retrevo is for pre-purchase research, daily deals and post-purchase support.”

In addition to being a great source for troubleshooting your tech gadgets, Retrevo is the first dedicated search engine that allows you to research consumer electronics, check community buzz, find pre-purchase information, check the latest web-only deals and get accurate product documentation. Using Retrevo, gadget lovers will find complete coverage for twelve categories, including cell phones, smartphones, cameras, camcorders, home audio and home video, portable audio and portable video, printers and wireless networking (WiFi).

Canadian ISD Selects Onsite Basic Laser Printer Repair And Maintenance Training From My Tech Guru

Dallas, TX (PRWEB) February 25, 2008

My Tech Guru announced the successful completion of the Onsite Basic Laser Printer Repair & Maintenance Training conducted at Canadian Independent School District (Texas). Canadian ISD’s initial focus was to help empower a few key staff with the skills necessary to accomplish basic printer maintenance and troubleshooting. The staff in attendance included the elementary school principal, along with other IT and support staff. The onsite training format is designed to give average users the ability to perform basic printer maintenance, understand the settings that help extend the life of consumables, diagnose a range of basic printer problems and make the repairs directly, without the need to call in an outside technician for the majority of common printer problems. This helps reduce printer down time, helps maintain a consistent level of document production, and helps reduce fees paid to outside contractors.

Becky Wilson, a member of the IT support staff commented that she “wouldn’t have known where the transfer kit, drum kit, fuser kit, and even some cartridges went.” After the one-day basic laser printer maintenance and repair training Becky noted that “It helped me to know not to be afraid to do something. It won’t be too hard to repair most problems.” The My Tech Guru onsite training is structured precisely to the exact printing equipment used by the organization and tailored to address the specific printer issues faced by staff on a day to day basis. Canadian ISD’s Director of Instructional Technology, Pam Spencer stated “this will help reduce printer repair costs and help staff implement repairs. Every technician should be required to attend.”

“Teaching a few key people how to perform basic laser printer maintenance and repair can save an organization thousands of dollars per year” explained Brad Barton, founder and owner of My Tech Guru. “In addition to a few key settings that help conserve toner and consumable life, we show our customers how to save up to 50% on maintenance and repair parts, as well as eliminate the outsourced technician in the majority of instances.” As the business environment has become more and more document driven over the years, printer maintenance and repair costs have spiraled out of control, in many cases unchecked by IT staff that are unfamiliar with printing equipment. Many businesses, large and small, are looking for ways to cut these costs without cutting the document production of the organization.

My Tech Guru has also produced a video training format that is designed to give average users, managers, network engineers and computer technicians the ability to diagnose a range of basic printer problems and make the repairs directly, without the need to call an outsourced printer repair technician. The training Reference Guide provides step-by-step instructions to quickly and easily find the appropriate information in the printer’s service manual, allowing the user or technician to troubleshoot and repair a wide range of printer issues. The video training format is available on DVD as well as downloadable Windows Media files.
