The incorporation of HP ColorLok technology on HP Everyday Papers that will allow customers to print up to 60% bolder blacks for extra sharpness, 30% brighter colors for richer and truer images, and up to nine times faster drying inks for less smearing across a range of printing devices. Additionally HP announced a further expansion of its supplies portfolio in line with its commitment to offer customers greater choice and value for both Inkjet and LaserJet Print Cartridge offerings. They include:

The expanded range of new HP XL Inkjet Print Cartridges targeted at high volume users, offering up to 47%(4) in cost savings to customers. Breakthrough Supplies Innovations

Newly Formulated HP ColorSphere Toner(5) – HP’s newly formulated ColorSphere Toner delivers great photo quality prints on a variety of media with 39% wider range of colors and 117% more gloss than previous HP color toners. New Enhanced Monochrome Toner(6) – The new monochrome toner from HP is the latest advancement in toner technology that enables consistently outstanding print quality and reliability at print speeds required in robust business printing environments (up to 62 pages per minute). HP ColorLok Media – Further demonstrating HP’s commitment to innovation, HP has incorporated HP Everyday Papers with HP ColorLok technology that create bolder, sharper images, faster dry times and improved reliability across a range of printing devices. Documents printed on HP Everyday Papers with ColorLok, using HP inks, feature blacks that are up to 60% percent bolder for extra sharpnesss. Similarly with color prints, HP ColorLok technology prevents inks from penetrating too deeply into the sheet, resulting in improved optical density which allows colors to appear uniform and up to 30% brighter colors for richer and truer images and up to nine times faster drying inks for less smearing across a range of printing devices Extending Customer Choice and Value

New HP Officejet Branded Inks – As part of the system rebrand for its ink-based HP Officejet printing device line-up, HP is introducing the all-new HP Officejet branded ink cartridges that are specially designed to boost SMB productivity through high-volume, low-cost per page business printing. HP Simple Black Cartridge Expansion – HP is also announcing the expanded availability of its highly successful Simple Black ink cartridge range to include four more products to its existing lineup. The HP Simple Black Cartridge is a lower-priced alternative which delivers consistent, reliable, trouble-free performance that HP print cartridges are know for. It is specially designed for customers who want draft-quality for everyday printing e.g. draft contracts for proof reading, in return for significant cost savings. Superior HP Quality and Reliability

HP also unveiled today the results of a North America, HP commissioned yield and reliability study on monochrome toner cartridges. Conducted by QualityLogic, a leading printing research company, the study found that 7% of the remanufactured toner cartridges tested were dead on arrival or failed prematurely. In addition, more than a third of pages from remanufactured cartridges were of limited or no use, based on a print quality scale developed from customer research.(9)

These results complement the Asia Pacific, HP commissioned ink cartridge yield and reliability study conducted in late 2007. Conducted by TÜV SÜD PSB, a leading technical test and research company, the findings quantitatively proved that on average, Original HP Inkjet Print Cartridges produced 2.4 times as many pages (146.7% more) than refilled cartridges compared to Asia Pacific brands of refilled ink cartridges tested. The findings revealed that more than a third of the Asia Pacific refilled cartridges tested were found dead on arrival (DOA) or failed prematurely, compared to Original HP Cartridges that had no such reliability issues.(10)

HP LaserJet M1522n MFP Toner Review

Posted: Sep 14, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

By: Theodore Beach

The HP LaserJet M1522n MFP is a nice, desktop, mono laser device, intended for the small or home office. Including supplying full- colour scanning, it features HP’s instant-on printing, meaning there is no warmup time period well before printing commences.

In several ways it is a traditionally fashioned multifunction machine having an A4 flatbed scanner determining its width. There’s a 50-sheet Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) at the top, which has a somewhat flimsy feed tray. Elevate the ADF to uncover a complete A4 flatbed plus in front of this there is a simple control panel.

In addition to a keypad on the left regarding entering the number of copies, you’ll find control keys off to the right of the two-line by 16-character Liquid crystal display that offer easy modification of lightness and darkness, quantity of copies and printing quality. You can even enlarge and also lessen copies from the flatbed.

The laser printer portion of the machine has a protruding paper tray that may take as much as 250 sheets and also features a somewhat clumsy multipurpose feed upon its top cover.

Behind are sockets for USB 2. as well as Ethernet; this device can support a network in addition to being linked locally to an individual PC. After raising the scanner area upwards, the HP LaserJet M1522m MFP toner cartridge slots down from the top in the direction of the back of the machine.

The supplied HP software covers printing, scanning and copying then there’s a further copy of Readiris OCR in both Windows and also Mac versions. The set up utility offers a full installation or express versions for just USB or just network functionality.

Instant-on printing makes a dramatic impact on the print and copy speed, printing begins nearly the moment the ‘Printing’ message appears on its control panel display and the very first page is complete within 15 seconds.

Primarily due to the rapid start-up, the printing rates of speed we saw were breathtaking for a unit costing little beyond £200. Our five- page text print concluded in 22 seconds while the five-page text and graphics test required one second less, giving print speeds of 13.6ppm and 14.29ppm, respectively. In certain ways, much more extraordinary were the 15 x 10cm photo prints, which finished in 11 seconds, as well as the photocopies, from glass and ADF, which required 10 seconds and 14 seconds. They’re some of the best copy times we have observed.

The caliber of the prints was typically excellent with good, precise black text and dense black shades to lines and also fills. Coloured tints behind black text were likewise produced pretty well, without any indications of banding.

There’s a weak spot in the LaserJet overall performance, though, and that’s photocopy quality. Photocopy text is fine, however parts of fill, particularly copied from print rather than the constant tone of a picture, are extremely inadequate. The textures separate and come through much lighter or much darker in comparison to the originals. It is a little bit better in the event you pick text, mixed or photo modes, making use of the quality button on the control panel, however it is still certainly not that great.

HP employs an unfortunate trend, though, through delivering a ‘starter’ toner cartridge, which prints only 1,000 pages.

It really is difficult to know how to sum up the LaserJet M1522n MFP. We began by truly being amazed by the machine’s ease-of-use as well as the incredible print rates of speed, but were brought back to earth by way of its dodgy copy quality. Many people investing in a multifunction printer intend to make use of it at least partially as a photocopier. So long as you’re only photocopying text, this should probably be alright, however copying graphics will be something of a letdown.

HP LaserJet M1120MFP Toner Review

All-in-one devices have outstripped sales of single-function printers inside the ink-jet market, but have been slower to appear with laser engines. HP has tried to redress this situation and the LaserJet M1120 MFP, an entry-level, mono laser all-in-one, has been created for home and also small office use.

For those who are used to working with inkjet-based all-in-ones, the LaserJet M1120 MFP is surprisingly tall. The laser engine in the bottom portion of the device occupies quite a bit more room compared to an ink-jet engine, but the machine looks sturdy with its slate grey columns down both sides.

A 250-sheet paper tray has a 10-sheet multi-purpose tray set on top of it. The output tray is positioned halfway up the device, giving the machine an appearance comparable to a piecemeal.

Quite a way higher than the output tray is the flatbed scanner area and this hinges up wards to around 30 degrees, to deliver the means to access the toner cartridge. It is held up by sprung hinges, so stays where it’s set, while open.

On top of the unit there is a two-line Liquid crystal display – without any backlight – as well as a set of eight buttons that are sufficient to manage all of the device’s functions. The only connection at the back is a USB 2 socket and there is simply no internal alternative for a network interface. Nevertheless, a network edition of the unit, can be obtained for approximately £20 more.

HP supplies a copy of ReadIRIS OCR software along with a utility known as LaserJet Scan, which will simplify scanning to files, e-mail in addition to other applications. The driver itself is relatively sparse, however it does offer scaling, watermarks and instructions with regard to manual duplexing.

The LaserJet M1120 MFP is said to print as much as 19ppm but in our tests concluded the five-page text print, and the text and graphics prints, in 22 seconds, each. One single page, 15 x 10cm picture print finished in 8 seconds, a great end result for a printer within this class. Lastly, a solitary page photocopy required 15 seconds, and that is once again a more than reasonable time.

The print quality was there, having sharp characters right down to small point sizes without any indication of stray toner. Greyscale patterns, normally used for reproducing coloured tints in originals looked great, with very little apparent banding along with a very good variety of dither patterns recreating various tones. This is at the same time true for printed pictures, which appear clean as well as sleek, specially from the unit’s top resolution, that is improved to 1200dpi.

Sadly, the same cannot be stated for copies of greyscales. When using the flatbed scanner to produce photocopies works well for black text, but not for any kind of greyscale material in which shades of grey appear grainy as well as bumpy. The scanner itself is a colour device, so it can be used in order to scan photo prints, along with working with the provided OCR software.

The HP LaserJet M1120MFP toner cartridge is rated at 2,000, five per cent pages.

For anyone who wants the additional features of an all-in-one printer, yet has no desire for colour print, this is an excellent personal device, which is easy to use and creates good quality black print. It isn’t so great on photocopying greyscales, on the other hand, and low capacity of the toner cartridge isn’t a lot more than from a number of inkjet cartridges. At the price range, various ink-jet all-in-ones provide equivalent value and also put colour to the value mix and even though reduced upkeep ought to be a very good differentiator for lasers, it isn’t so obvious in this instance.

Keep getting message “install toner” on HP 8500, even though I installed a new one. WHY?

I have an HP 8500 Color laserjet printer. I just tried to replaced the yellow toner, but keep getting the error message “Install Yellow Toner”. I’ve tried taking all of the toners out and putting them back in, restarting the printer, nothing has worked. Anyone got any ideas?
This is the 3rd toner cartridge I’ve tried, so I’m fairly sure its something wrong with the printer itself. Will have to call in someone to fix it!
