I have a huge report due tommorow! I have an hp deskjet f4135 all in one (scanner is attached) and i ran out of black ink when i put the new cartridge in it printed a test page and then the page said “scan this sheet to align cartridges” and i pressed scan and now nothings happening. I went into settings and control panel and everything!! I tried troubleshooting and nothing worked. Please help me, it would be very greatly appreciated!

  1. It is very common for a new inkjet cartridge to need multiple cleans before it will work. Cleaning forces ink out of the nozzles and with new cartridges this is often needed to get the ink flowing.

Use the clean utility that comes with the printer – often it is in the last panel of the printer properties box (right click printer icon and choose properties).

Be prepared to do it maybe 7 or 8 times before the ink starts coming out. Once that is done it will work normally until it is empty.

    This is known as priming.

  2. I’m not familiar with all in ones but it seems the printer would be the one to align cartridges (do a calibration) w/o having to scan and is usually done right after test page is printed out. Hope you get it figured out.

  3. Your scanner is out of calibration. Find your local printer repair shop.
